Syncrotech Card Reader - can't write to SD cards

Has anyone else had any problems WRITING to an SD card in the syncrotech (or any) card reader? I formatted it FAT 16, loaded some wavs on it, and much to mys urprise, i could load them just fine.

writing however gives me a 'write protect' error, and yes, ive checked that the lock slider is set right. it is.

i can write to CF just fine, which is nice. just curious if anybody else experiences similar behavior.

Quite honestly I haven't tried so far to use SD media in my synchrotech reader, I guess CF suits my needs for the moment especially since my sp-404 also uses CF which makes it realy easy to swap samples between the 2 machines. But yes it's definately a question/problem that's been asked/raised b4. Could someone please confirm/deny ?

i put that IISDMC or whatever it's called card reader in mine and have only used it with sd cards. works fine.

What os are you guys using ? 1.14 or 1.20 ?

The OS has nothing to do with it. It's either you're SD card or the way you formatted it. I have 1.14 OS and it works fine.

i'm using os 1.14 too but it could be any number of things. i use the syncrotech drive, could be the drive, could be the media (its brand new), its formatted fat 16...it can read from it fine.

it kinda sucks but i think i might just keep it as a read only sample source or something. i prefer cf anyway this is just what i have.

does anybody use smart media successfully?
