I'm a hardware guy....I use a roland jp8000, DX7, Motif Rack, Korg Karma, or a 4 string Kurbow....

I find the sound comming through the wall of my neighboors appartment works well when miced up. But its not the hardware its what u do to them sounds in it. So hardware or software u can still get some heavy a** bass.
