Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

My set up...emu proteus and mo phatt midi'd into the mpc...usen the mpc to sequence....I have figured out how to correctly sample dump into the mpc from the sound modules so that when I load the beat in the mpc everything is there just the way I left it...I can do a control change insert within the mpc so that I can change sound banks on the modules instead of physically doing so...and by sound banks I mean..the emu has 127 sounds for every sound bank and there are 4 banks(0,1,2,3) in all...my last problem is for some reason the only sounds that didn't load correctly were like sound 122 in bank one...I get sound 122 playen but it stays in bank 0...anything I'm doing wrong as to why the bank changes aren't saved??

u need to insert a bank select message in the step sequencer, it can be on any midi track as long as its sending to the right device. i normally put all that jargon on down in the 90's ( the sequencer tracks i mean ). There is a intelligent reply to this on these forums, i actually neeed to refresh myself on this procedure too.

thanks for the reply!!! I will try that and see what I come up with..now I did do a control change insert it was like "control change lsb" and when I changed it to one...I was then able to scroll through the sounds in sound bank 1 on the modules...but for some reason when I save the beat on the mpc those control changes disapear the next time I reload the beat and I have to reset it...but I mess around with it and see what I get.

What nanoloop said.
And to add. There's two Bank select Midi commands on most synths. Controller 0 and controller 32. (I think)
Which one you use is dependent on the Midi device. In your case the Proteus and Phatt.

Insert the controllers in Step Edit on an empty sequence before your Song starts.
This way you can stop the Controller messages being sent every time the sequence loops. This can cause a glitch sometimes in the synth.

Think what he ask ,is why did the one sound not play, and that is really a O.S issue. you can insert allday long sometimes the midi controller's want all record in step edit, I had the 2000XL had the same problem. MSB 0/LSB32 -0-127. I have a 1k planning on getting the 25k or 4k. It (2XL) will record controllers in ,it just take a couple of trys.

exactly^^^^^Even though I inserted a control change for lsb bank 1...when I reloaded the beat the sound was there...it was just on bank 0 of my emu and I had to switch it over on the emu...nothen major just wondered why the simple little control change I set up in the step sequencer had disapeared...just figured I did somethin wrong...but I will try all suggestions and I thank everyone for their replies.....Regardless if I figure out that small obstacle I've already overcame the walk up the mountain as far as mpc and midi'd external devices..thanks again!

now I'm trying to remember how did my insertion on the XL. I think when I inserted msb/lsb ,I step the cursor to the left or right, which activated the record button in step edit, That sometimes would lock the control changes in,but most part I had to keep doing it till the XL remembered it. So I kinda glad I don't have to do that with the 1k,it's much easier.
