Cartridge Question..

Hey I Need a new needle/cartridge.. im not sure, i know i need something to replace the broken part. Im am new to the tables and i use a Stanton t.80 to record vinyl into protools and sample. Do i have to buy a Stanton Brand cartdrige, or is any one a good choice.. Any Help?

You dont have to buy a Stanton cartridge if you dont want to. Personally, I use the Shure M44-7, it designed not to skip and has a lot of out-put. Basically all the Shure products are great in my opinion. I havent heard too much about Stanton cartridges though....

Thanx for the Feed! Is is guaranteed to fit on my arm? It's a 3 pin connection. Are all cartridges like this?

Yeah, it will fit. You dont need to replace the headshell though.... You will however, have to disconnect the white, red, green and blue wires from your current cartridge in order to install the new one. It's pretty simple though. When you buy a new cartridge the manufacturer usually includes instructions for installation so you shouldn't have any problems.... If you run into some, feel free to PM me. Peace....

You dont need to replace the whole cartridge. Try to find out what kind of cartirdge you have and just replace the stylus. Different needles have varying sound quality. shure 447s are loud, but too much bass no mids and shrieky highs. Ortofons are bright and clean so you might or might not like that for sampling. Stanton 680s sound pretty good.
