Where to find used xl's?

Hi. I finally have enough loot saved up for an xl. Now I am thinking it would be better to buy a used xl fully maxed out. I know sell.com/ebay have used ones and lots of them. But the majority of them are being sold AS IS. So what happens if I get it and its broke then im out a bunch of money. I suppose I could pay the 1600 for a new one with no upgrades but that is way too much for me. I have checked craigslist. I have called local music stores. Is there any companys online who sell used mpc's (xl's/xl plus)? ones that have been checked over and if they dont work I can return them within 30 days? Thanks.

Most likely, you wont find a used XL maxed out with any kind of warranty. You can get factory re-sealed XL's from a lot of places but they are not Maxed and you'll be paying pretty close to what you would for a new one. Just get a new one and slowly get the upgrades. This way you know 100% that MPC will work and if for some reason it doesn't, you have the warranty from where you bought it and the 1 year warranty from Akai.

i'm sure many people here can attest to a bad transaction on ebay. best thing is to do your homework on the seller and don't be hesitant to ask many many questions until you're comfortable with purchasing from them. that's pretty much the only route for what you're looking for. i mean there is craigslist but that's even more shady than ebay but YMMV.

if you do manage to save up the $$$ vst sells the 2000XL MCD's fully loaded for $1749. it's brand new, fully loaded, and comes with a 6 month warranty. i haven't seen any deals like that anywhere.

oh yeah, sometimes guitar centers get used gear in for sale. i've seen and mpc and a roland tb-303 used once. some guitar centers will also sell the used stuff on ebay but from what i've seen they inflate the prices alot.

you can always find something on ebay, I found an unused, new in the box 2000xl studio with 8 outs for 760, from a church singer and I'm in constant email contact with him and he's safe.. ^^ (do a lot of research on the seller first and don't hesitate, if you're outside the u.s., to ask the seller if he would be so kind to ship it somewhere else) hope you find something

nice come up hageir. there are def some good people on ebay, as mentioned several times, just do you research on the sellers. i bought my tr-707 from a church, it was in mint condition.

Pawn shops

There is never 100% guarantee in the used market. I purchased a used 2000xl and the LCD seemed fine. Very bright, but once I used it for an hour it was almost gone. I tested it at first, but then figured out the LCD is going. Many things can be fixed on MPC's. If its a good deal, consider worst case scenario to repair and that should tell you if its worth it.
