question about stopping samples from playing

i have a 6 bar sample that straight loops but when I want to stop and redo the sequence the sample plays to its end. is there a way to dead all noise so I can start the sequence over again? Lampdog if you read this I think it's my parallel zip that was messin up on my cause the things 6 years old. I'm just gonna get a usb one.
