when you change the scaling (with F4+F5 and wheel) in the MODE+11 screen, it can crash


it crashed on me twice like that

we will classify these bugs as well as we can, using the jj's directions.
as of yet it seems that we only have one bug that can be reproduced i presume - utty's crash.

some are more simple than recreating - for example, the transient only slice function. we just need both options, if at all possible. otherwise, this os has only GIVEN, not taken. that's not necessarily a bug, just something we can't lose. i'd rather have slice than transient, honestly.

plus when you copy a seq.....it doesnt it to go to the next seq.......its at 17 or something

I've ran into two problems so far which i'll explain. I think this first one is a bug.

1st Problem(or bug)- Recording on tracks 61-64 recordings will not sync up properly.

Steps:
1. Turn Machine On
2. Go to track 61
3. Record by pressing rec+play( or play start) or overdub+play (or play start)
4. record track in sync to metronome or to other tracks already sequenced.
5. playback (this is now out of sync with the metronome most of the time, approx. 1/2 sec. late, enough to completely throw it off)
6. go to track 62-64
7. record track(s) using method in step 3&4
8. playback (this will also be out of sync with metronome and other track)


I ran into this when I laid a beat down and played a bass guitar over it on Track 61. The first time it sync'd and repeated perfectly. I went to track 62 to make another track and the playback was not even close to how I put it down. I erased this track and .wav file and tried to find out what the problem was by recording on different tracks and resetting the time to 1.01.00 between takes. I eventually restarted the machine and just tried to record on track 61 along with the metronome, but when it played back the track started about 1/4 to 1/2 seconds too late again.

*edit* When further looking into the 1st problem, the Trim page also shows this offset. It can be fixed by trimming the start of each part by (and this is where it gets hard) about 11.700. I don't know if 11.700 is the exact time added to the start, but to make the tracks sync you must trim the same exact amount off of the start of all tracks recorded in 61-64.


My second problem is that it crashes when I try to create a new folder on my hard drive, but I suspect that this might have to do with my hard drive and not the OS, since the memory card does not have the same problem. Until I backup and reformat my hd, I cannot report this as an OS bug, but it is still worth mentioning.

I can confirm following new bugs:

1. mode 11 using F4 + F5 causes sometimes crash

autoload folder does work!
go to LOAD then select LOAD:memory card
then press F5 (AUTO L) and select device and folder.

Firstly, this new OS is quite astonishing.

Anyway, I found a bug with the delete function in Grid Edit/Window mode:

1) Go to grid mode (Mode + Pad15)

2) Move the cursor over an occupied cell of the grid, and press the 'window' button. This brings up a list of events in that cell, with the usual step edit details (velocity, duration, etc.)

3) Select an event from the list, and press delete (F5). I've found that the display does not update accurately. Either nothing happens, and it looks like the event is still there, or the event pad changes. However, the event is deleted from the grid properly. It just looks kind of confusing.

Bug in 'Mode 11' - multiple pad edit.

1) Press Mode, then pad 11

2) Press F6 'Whole'

3) Hold both F4 AND F5 and turn the data wheel.

4) Now, no matter what you do, the cursor will not return to the part of the screen that allows you to edit pad data; you can just select the first and last pad of the range. Pressing F6 to go out of 'Whole' mode doesn't make a difference, nor does going back to the main screen and back into mode 11. The MPC doesn't freeze, but Mode-Pad11 is stuck in this funny state until you reboot the MPC.

Yes, this is just stupid operator error, but what can I say, I spend some time at work as a software tester ... Oh yeah, and I'm a stupid operator

regarding the new folder crash - can you replicated it? is it similar to the old os new folder bug?

load a bunch of samples
try to assign those at the tail end
in my case i had a bunch of samples i had chopped on os 2.1
i scrollled through the list and the list would...loop...on and on
so i'd scroll through the same samples, you get it?
never reaching those at the end of the sample list.
maybe i will assign it through the new and improved program mode feature.

this bug occured to me on 2.1 a couple weeks ago. then i restarted and everything was fine.

Nym- I did replicate the crash on new folder bug, but I had a feeling it was my hard drive acting up. So, I backed up and reformatted the hd last night and the bug is gone.


Also, I have been using the track 61-64 with the start time cutoff workaround and it's been really fun to use the Mpc in such a different way. This is a great feature, but would be even better if I didn't have to trim every take and could work on the fly recording and playing back these tracks.

i think i just realized what direct recording is. and it sounds to me like i need to rape that feature.
