Here's another one, Song Mode will not play back direct record tracks.

I looked further at the explanation of why the author is not able to recreate the tr 61-64 direct record bug. The method he was using was recording the main outs for two bars which recorded the click. When played back with the metronome on he reported that they played back in sync. I tried this test as well and it in fact does sync perfectly doing this. The problem with the extra start time however, remains when using the Analog or Digital inputs.

I wrote and sent in the explanation of 61-64 bug and song mode bug like this:

I
The Track 61-64 bug only exists using the analog or digital inputs. This problem does not happen using Main Out.

Example

1 power sources ON→ (unused) selecting the sequence
2 cursor to TR and select track 61-64
3 set recording preferences (to analog or digital, stereo or mono l/r input) using the window button
4 record a take (counting into microphone 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8)in time with metronome
5 press stop to stop recording
6 (bug) press play or play start to replay the newly recorded
sample(take)and it is late.

look in the Trim Mode (Mode+Pad6) to see the sample has extra time recorded to the Left and(or) Right side. You can see exactly how much when zooming in to the first peak, because the beginning is dead silence (no signal).

II
Different track 61-64 bug

1 power sources ON→ (unused) selecting the sequence
2 Cursor to TR and select track 61-64
3 set recording preferences using the window button
4 record a take
5 press stop to stop recording
6 go to song mode (Mode+Pad16)
7 in Song Mode, cursor to Sequence and select sequence(s) that have direct record takes on them
8 (bug) all tracks EXCEPT tracks 61-64 will play back while in Song Mode

1. start mpc
2. go to track 61, leave tempo and bars alone
3. set recording inputs to what you need
4. press overdub+playstart
5. after count in play a simple instrument or vocal line to metronome
6. press stop at end of recording
7. go to click menu (main then F2)
8. turn "in play" to "yes", and close (F4)
9. press playstart to playback track and it will start late and in not sync with the metronome.
10. go to trim mode (mode+pad6) and select newly recorded take
11. look at the beginning of the sample where you will see a spike and a bit of dead silence before the signal comes in.

The thing with the spike and the silence also happens in record mode. Does this maybe have something to do with the signal threshold? Will try if I have the time.

After they released the BETA 16 version - their hompage states this:

"The programmer for busyness as for version upgrade we go to bed for a while."

Huh, how long they're going to rest?

It would be really sad if this project would fall short, because of lack of time.

@bigman

On the bug page, he states that in his attempt to recreate the direct recording bug, I think (memory might fail me here, and I can't find his explanation any more) he used 'rec + playstart', not overdub + playstart. Does that make a difference for you?

@nym, bigman

I still get the crash when going to trim mode with empty memory. I have the original 1K (blue/red) - which machine are you running? I know the only difference was meant to be the colour scheme, but I'm just wondering why nym and myself see this but bigman doesn't.

hi,

in OS 3.00 beta 16 i found like i said a sound difference between load screen and sequnce screen. try and play a sample in load screen and then the same sample in sequence screen. there is a difference. in OS 2.10 there isnt it.
