MPC1000 RAM and CF card Recommendations

My question is.....
If you were to buy an EXM 128 from Akai (hypothetically) would it only install 64MB total?? Or does that actually beef it to 128...? I understand the concept of the 1000 only reading one side (half the chips) I'm just wondering if Akai (or Hynix) or any brand/offer claiming a "128MB upgrade" is actually upgrading the full 128 and not just 64MB.

the mpc only reads one side of the ram. akai's ram upgrade only has chips on one side, whereas normal sodimms have chips on both, which is why you have to get 256MB, but you got that bit.

basically, I just paid $80 like an **** for an ebay "beef your mpc 1000 to 128mb" deal before doing my research and finding the right memory (also on ebay) for about $20 (for real!) Now I'm just concerned that the one I bought will ACTUALLY upgrade to the full 128.

If it says it's a 128MB upgrade, and the chips are only on one side, I should be gravy...?

if it's the akai upgrade it'll be fine, if it's another make @ 128mb you'd better hope that it's 256mb

I got my RAM brand new from an ebay store called QualityRAMS for 35 bucks including shipping.
If anyone's not clear, this RAM upgrade ups your sample time from just over a minute to almost 13 minutes, which I mainly use for recording beat tapes.

so.. what are some working 1 gb and 2 gb cf cards? can someone upgrade the list please?

I'm not sure about the 4gb (since I havent tested them). But theoretically, it may work, since OS 2.1's file system is now FAT32 (while OS 1.07 was FAT16 with a 2gb limitaton).

For the price of a 4gb CF, you're much better of buying the Toshiba 40gb HD and the HDM10 adaptor. You'll save alot of money and alot of hassle.

I pulled some PC100 CL2 out of a defunct Dell lappy and it works great!

I have some 4gig CF cards (Sandisk Extreme 3) so I'll try them next.
