Getting around the pgm bumping problem!

I noticed a couple post pertaining to pgms being bumped aside when a new one is loaded up so heres the remedy.

Say you already have a program or two already loaded up and you want to introduce a new program simply go to the main screen and select which drum slot you want the pgm to load into. (Drum 2, Drum 3, Drum 4) whichever one and then proceed to load up the new pgm the same way as you normally would.

Now you've just assigned the new pgm to the Drum slot of your choice and have beaten the bump bandit for good!

I know this is one of those problems that every newbie will be stomped by like the zip questions so here you go and welcome aboard!

about bumpin' pgms out, I had my midi system hooked up with two synthesizers that were controllers, one in input 1, and out through A, the other in through 2 and out through B, then I found out that when I performed a function on synth #1 a program would get bumped out and I would have to reload it.

Why does the MPC have two midi inputs, if you can't play and program with two other controllers.

apologies if it's a newbie question but still have to wrap my head around the midi set-up.

Think this might help.

If you want the MPC pgm not to change when u tweak ur synth, take ur cursor to the bottom left of the Main Screen where it says 'DRUM 1' or 'MIDI' and 'Open Window'.

You'll get the MIDI Input screen and you can filter the incoming MIDI messages. Go to MIDI Filter:Off and turn it on.

Then to Type:NOTES and change that to what you want to filter out. In your case it sounds like PROG CHANGE.

Close that screen. U should now be able to change Voice on your synth, and the MPC will ingore it!

quick question,

why does this happen even if I just run a midi cable out of the MPC into the synth? Does the MPC recieve program change data on the midi out as well? confused.

The MPC will NOT receive MIDI on the Out (unless I''ve got it wrong!)

It may be that the pgm bump was Recorded into ur seq, so when you play it back now from the MPC, the pgm change is taking place internally. You should be able to find the Event in Step Edit, and delete it from there.

I had this problem myself until I filtered out those change messages. So hopefully you won't encounter this again and will just have to edit existing Seq's.

i use both mid ins...one for keyboard data the other for controller data for my aj1....there are uses for it....
