THIS OS IS A F WORK OF ART
My first impressions:
PS I know we're supposed to post bugs, but I don't post much so bear with me
I just downloaded/installed beta 16 (was too busy to try earlier betas)
and I F loooove:
- the new Load/Save menu!! old one was crammed like s***
- the new Trim mode! scroll increment relative to zoom, A+! also in Trim menu: sample/start/end on the same line!! sweet!
- Chop / Whole (multiple pad editing increases the existing values of all pads, it doesn't reset them unless you go backwards to 0, F wow!!) / Samples (and files on CF) in alphabetical order / vertical zoom (hell yeah!) / Play Start (restarts playback like Shift+Play on the Electribes.. perfect for live!)
- Grid Mode! (with Window option on Events, including: Pad, Tune, Decay, Velocity!) > someone wake me up!
On the Triton ST sequencer, I have grid there but it only shows Tracks/bars (you still have to go into Edit Mode to edit details!)
This just shows the difference between musician/actual user's programming vs programmer's nonsense! Music Co should hire more people like JJ. Kudos all the way!
Odd things:
- first time I installed OSv3 Grid mode filled about 75% of the LCD. I then reinstalled OS2.1 (to compare old vs new menus) and then OSv3 again. Grid now fills 100% of LCD area. Weird.
Things about the 1k that still drive me mad:
(I would die a happy man if these were addressed!)
1- When you record a new part in Seq 01, you must press Stop to be able to switch to Seq 02! I hate that!! (I usually work on 3-5 sequences simultaneously, and record parts on the fly.. I like to be able to switch to the next sequence after I have recorded a part, to see the contrast between the 2 sequences.. maybe I'm the only one who does this? lol)
2- Solo should be able to um Solo multiple pads in one shot -without the need to use Shift- (hell the Electribe can do this!) this is ideal for live!
3- Shift+DataWheel: I still think this could be used in a more efficient way (than current LCD contrast which could be in Other menu), ie like Faster Scrolling through samples (and in all modes); I mean how often do you change your LCD contrast?
Bug? (and one of my annoyances!)
4- In Next Seq mode: when sequencer is stopped we should be able to change sequences from Pads. I was really hoping that JJ would have thought about this.. maybe he did.. cause when you press Pad3 it highlights Sequence03 (and "Sequence03" flashes in the bottom for half a second) but it doesn't switch to it. You have to use the data wheel to switch.. bad bad bad!
it's 4:20am here and I'm still playing with the new OS..
sheeea gotta get some sleep.. (hey maybe I'm dreaming!) lol
cheers everyone
