question!

just a few minutes ago i was about 30 minutes in to making a beat, next thing i know the mpc freezes for about 30 seconds or so, then the screen went blank....so i turned it off let it chill for a bit turned it back on and the screen was still blank, you can just barley make out what it says if you look really close. actually right when you turn it on MPC2000XL is displayed normally, then it goes blank.... is it my screen? could it be something else like a loose connection? is there a chance it will start working again??? if anybody knows what the problem is, how much will this cost me? man this sucks.

have you tried adjusting the contrast? i'm not sure but it could be that the mpc loads all the user settings (contrast being one of them) after the 'MPC2000XL' screen

i dont think thats it, i hope it is!!! how do i change contrast?

Hold down shift and rotate the wheel clockwise.

If that doesn't work it might be time to replace the screen.

any idea why its doing this? i think i'm gonna have to set it every time i turn it off, which dosnt really matter to me but is there something i can do to save that setting or is something wrong with it?

Whatever you were doing when you were making that beat, you must have held down shift and scrolled with the knob at the same time, that's what did it.

YOU changed the contrast and didn't even realize it, lol.

I do it occasionally cos I hold down shift, then the cursor left/right to change the increment when I'm chopping up samples. I leave my finger on shift sometimes when I'm whizzing through fast and then rotate the wheel. Don't do it too much but I know what I've done when it happens.

Whatever "Setting" you had it on when you turn it off will be loaded next time you turn it on. If not you may have a problem.

What max said. And I've actually had the shift button stick once or twice... Thought the whole thing had frozen but some things work and some didn't... Turned the wheel and the contrast changed, bingo, shift button.
