2000 a classic

I was just wondering if a 2000 was considered a classic, since it went off production. can someone let me know what they think is better, becuase my boy's got a 2000 and he never got to use one and would love to **** with mines, but I won't because he's already got a 1000, I'm talking to serious cats that know the MPC2000. thanks in advance for your opinions

id rather have a 1000 than a 2000. but id take a xl over them both. i really cant say if its considered a classic. maybe in the near future when they're hard to find like sp n sh!t. but im sure they wont have the ticket niether because many machines has came out since then that smashes the classic BUT for its time id say id was a groundbreaking machine.

I'd take an 2K over a 1K anyday

i have to agree also. Although i dont like the way the 2000 is sometimes, but i like the old mpc's verses the new ones

well ive swithed from the classic to the xl because i got a little bored with it. of course the classic and the xl are similar in ways but the features on the xl i use real thoro. but the filters on the 1000 are killin em both. i hate the 1000. but i hate that i dont have those filters either

I got a 2000 and I consider it my baby. It does what it should and with maxed RAM I'm not limited at all really, as to what I can sample. As for filtering/lack there of, there are lots of other options for filtering, for example finishing a track then doing your filtering through another sampler or an effects processer using 8 outs.

The MPC 2000 is a classic. The XL just adds a few features that the 2000 doesn't but none that is really essential. I would choose either of those units before I choose an MPC 1000:

1. MPC 3000 and 2500 (tie)
2. MPC 2000/2000XL
3. MPC 4000
4. MPC 60/60II
5. MPD16
6. MPC 1000

2K will Murk the 1k any day any place any time when it come to that classic hiphop sound quality! I use a 2k & have all the features at my disposal to make phat beats.

So the 2K doesn't sound equal to or better than the 1000?

Equal to or better is in the eyes of the producer. Jazz likes the sound of the 2k, cool.

The 1k can get that sound also and go for other types of sound that it's eq and other sound shaping tools give it.

Equal to or better is up to your own ears.

i sold my 1000 and copped a 2kxl a few months ago. I have no regrets at all.
Yes the filters are quite nice (not all that though).
But i'm still planning on buying a new 1000 for the road.. with os 3 on it, that thing is a monster, u can say what u want.

I hate that u have to load the OS Disk at start...
