I don't mess with ableton, but I think I understand what you want to be able to do. You want to make sure that when you trigger your sample, it extends all the way through the last count of the bar, but then stops as soon as the next sample starts? Try this:

MUTE GROUPS. If you set all the samples you want to behave like this to the same mute group, then when a sample is playing, as soon as you hit the next sample, it will stop the previous one. Not quite the same as the quantize feature you were asking about, but it will have the same effect.

In reality what i mean is the opposite:that the next sample plays only when the previous one has finish,no matter if you trigger it before the end.Let's say that in Play mode the next samples enters exactly in time depending on what global quantisation you put on the song .If you put one bar the sample will enter after the last bar has finish,if you put 1/16 it will enter exactly after the last 1/16 has finish.If you have for example a sliced sample on the pads,and you want to reproduce the sample with the pads,this feature helps you playi it back correctly.
I know you have to practice and bla bla bla....but for me sometimes this feature i very usefull.

Ableton is not a machine.

In REASOn you can do this with a RECYCLEd sample in DRREX loop player. This sounds like it could be possible on the MPC after you have the it chop up the samples. Maybe do a search on your MPC under tempo change or beat change. I also know that other software like CUBASE and NUENDO can do this chop a beat and play the slice back in time, if the sequence is slowed down or sped up. Keep up the good work, there is a solution.

woozee, did RundFyrkants solution work out for you?

On my machine when i do what RundFyrkants say,the machine act strangely.The pads sometimes they play and sometimes not.It doesn't seem to work well.Did you try it?

You know when you set the TC for a track and DO IT (eg. 56%)
Then you go to another track and do another different TC setting (eg. 64%).
Then you go back to the first track (maybe during another session) and you want to adjust the TC slightly, but how the hell can you tell what your original TC setting was?!?! (cos it just reads what ever the last setting you made - perhaps on another track)

This is really buggin me bigtime, cos I always use different TC settings on different tracks and would like to be able to go around and tweak tc's slightly in different tracks, but how can i do this if i don't know what the current tc setting is.

I think I might go and doublepost this in the OS3 thread. Sorry Mods.

Yeah, it would be nice if it somehow save the setting per track... I have the same problem sometimes. You just have to listen and guess what setting you used before, then tweak from there.

you could reset it back to 50% and then tweak from there. use the "fix" button.

Personally i think when you hit a pad and go into TC, the values you see in that window should pop up for the pad selected (and you should be able to hit another pad and the values would change - if there were on different TC settings of course) so you could compare the tc settings of different pads and change them / match them or whatever.

I might put this to JJ. Must be easy to implement.
