Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

You can get cables from www.vstservice.com and even the whole kit. Get at Nick he will let u know the exact one that will work and at least u will be guarenteed. If not somebody who owns one or done one recently will be able to assist you.

any IDE cable will do. I used one laying around from old computer.

Same IDE hard drive data ribbon cable in a desktop computer, NO DIFFERENT. $3, at ANY computer store.

IDE cables have different pins. I wanted to know which pin would fit for the card reader.

well its just usual 80-pin ide. The mpc has all pins so dont use one with the plugged hole. or you can remove the plugged hole yourself.

Why don't you look at the specs of the card reader you wanna buy.
and/or
open up your mpc and count them, this is not hard to figure out.

A desktop PC IDE/Atapi hard drive (same as mpc 2kxl mobo ide/atapi connector)is not 80 pin.
