CHOPPING

HELLO CAN ANY ONE HELP ME JUST GOT 2500 AND I LOADED A SAMPLE FROM USB AND I GO TO CHOP BUT SAYS INSUFFICIANT MEMORY AND THERE IS NOTHING ELSE ON MY FLASH CARD JUST THE ONE SAMPLE IM CONFUSED SOMEONE LET ME NO HOW I CAN CHOP IT UP

i think....? not too familiar with the 2500, but im sure those sounds are in your memory not your card

yea maybe you have too many loaded up in memory? i know in the 2000, when there's too many sounds, I gotta goto TRIM screen and delete the ones I dont need. I think there's also a purge feature, but i have no idea how that works

Yes, you probably only have the standard 16MB memory. You can check how much is left of that in the Load screen I think. If there's not enough left, some Editing functions won't work.

i got a 32mb and only one file on it

The cf card is NOT your internal memory. The Cf card is only for storage.

o ok so is there a way i can transfer it from the card to the internal i tried but cant seem to find it anywhere

To use purge you go in program and take any sounds you dont want to keep off of the pads, and make sure any sounds you do want are assigned to a pad. When you hit purge it deletes all the sounds not being used in any programs.

sounds like you need the 128mb ram expansion.

is there a way to get rid of all the samples allready on there as i dont even like em want to use all my own

you're still not getting it man.

your CF card (the 32 mb that you described) is like your hard drive on your PC. It is where you save stuff.

your "memory" that is on the MPC is the memory that holds the samples that you are working with temporarily while you make your beat. you don't save anything to that memory.

for example, my MPC has 16mb built in RAM. this means that i can use 1:02 worth of samples while making a beat. if you already have a minute long sample in your memore and then you try to open a 20 second sample off of your CF card it will say "insufficient memory".

therefore, you need to chop everything that you don't need out of the samples that you already have loaded up to make room for the new one.

get rid of the samples that you aren't using as well.

if you upgrade the memory(not the CF card) on your MPC you will have longer sample time and will be able to load up more samples at once.
