they have left out one of the most important feature MTC SLAVE
not to this date, it don't work

You don't have much experience with MPCs by your other comments. Akai has never released an MPC and then dump it after a few months.

Now MTC works as previous MPCs have using OS 1.20. With OS 1.22, it works but you cannot stop its transports once it is started. Look through the other threads that will show you how to get MTC working.

Also, MTC is one of the newer features that was just added.

I have been on the MTC bandwagon although I never use it. I use the MPC to compose with...both hardware and software. When its time to multi-track..I record everything as audio. You will have to do the same thing if you don't care for the way MTC works..or you know the alternative..get an MPC that performs the way you like. The XL is still being sold.

what you mean i don't have much experience with mpc?
i have both a 2000xl which i know like the back of my hand and a 2500. With the 2000xl its a ABC thing when it comes to MTC. One plug to logic pro or my daw and its all in sync right on the beat. both master and slave works.
On the 2500 only master works and its not on the beat like the 2000xl,
slave don't work period, with logic it triggers nothing.

knowing this is the latest mpc a simple important thing like this should be working fine.

MTC may not be a big deal to you and others but to some its a major feature as its one of the best syncing close to smti time code.

in the past few days i have search this forum reading up on problems with MTC slave. found none
if you remember where to found that posting about getting it to sync as slave plz forward it to me

I stated the obvious by your statement of Akai releasing an MPC and then abandoning it after 4 months. I can't recall one MPC that fits that description. But its all good though. I won't spoil the solution (good or bad) for MTC but you should be able to find it in a thread that is on the recent two pages of the 2500 forum. I personally don't like the way it works..because I prefer the MPC 3000 and 2000XLs way of handling MTC (as well as the 2500s 1.2 OS's way of handling MTC).

Honestly, I think MTC was great in the era of analog tape machines. But you can work around it with todays DAW. Why I say that?? Because I can record using the MPC into any DAW and edit the tracks to put them right on any beat..very easily. It may not start exactly where you wanted it to start, but it is consistent throughout which makes editing simple.

I think sending JJ a link to the forums is a good idea, if he can understand them properly from reading the forum. Or if you guys can be very detailed to him step by step about all the bugs it seems he'd work better that way. If it all works out, then the reason why I never gave up on my 2500 will be fulfilled. I'm praying. For now I'm on my 3000 until the 2500 stops freezing, or sounding like R2D2 during a beat.

If you are having problems creating music with your 2500 maybe its user error??? You could be more specific with your issues. 'All the bugs' you have?? I use it everyday just fine along side my MPC 3000.

Maybe Tutor can create another forum for JJ MPC 2500 OS fanatics

in time, it might happen. who knows?
i'm thinking jj might streamline it more for better live use than it already is, adding more q-link assignments and maybe a few more games other than pong.

I picked up from a post the other day (and this is from memory 'cos I'm not near the MPC):

Sync in: 1 (slave)
Mode: MTC
MMC: off

Sync out: A (master)
Mode: off
Send MMC: on

These settings allow me to record into Logic from the MPC using MTC (Logic set to send it) and it's bang on (aside for the latency on the 828Mk2). Suffice to say I'm very pleased with results using these settings so far and it's 100x improvement on Midi clock timing which under 1.2.* was all over the shop.

Can't hurt to give it a try, good luck.

Yeah, that is the one I was talking about. I am cool with it but I just don't like arming the MPC to play first. I just want to press play on my other sequencer and have the MPC start..and stop when I stop my external sequencer.

Now lets just wait and see if tattootroy has the same success...

Yep, I'm with you on that, but for now...
