Its all good. We are just chattin so I hope anyone that comes along (even 1000 users) don't catch feelings.

What I am saying is that we have received 4 OS updates this year. Not only did we receive bug fixes, but we received numerous new features.

The 1000 OS is nearly identical to the 2500. Its logical that what ever Akai can do to the 2500, they can do the same with the 1000...if they choose..or even JJ. And as you said...bugs..bugs...bugs..with new models..which is my point exactly. The new OS for the 1000 will mostly likely have issues. I got $5 that it will be no where as stable as the MPC 1000s current Akai OS. As far as the SIMULT, I would like to see JJ add that to the 1000.


Well, I do have a family full of musicians. My son just started SAX (his sax was just a little cheaper than a 1000) and my daughter is still in the school band as a snare drummer and takes piano. My son does more beat making than my daughter. He is starting to like Reason 3 more than an MPC. I think everyone should encourage their kids to take up music.

i'd like to see what JJ would/could do with the os of the 2500, whether for working out bugs or implementing possible new features.

of course, getting akai to continue to support and innovate in their own products is the first choice but i'm all for keeping an open mind towards JJs talents. it seems that many of the mpc1k users using JJ's os are quite happy. so to them i say cheers.

The 1000 and 2500 are nearly identical. What ever they can implement on the 1000 then can possibly do on the MPC 2500 and vice versa.

Of course 1000s users would be happy. It was a piece of crap until it started to get 2500 features. Bravo..bravo!

MTC was never promised as a feature. It was later added, and it does actually work now. It doesn't work the way other MPCs have in the past..but it does work. Use the SEARCH to find out how to use this feature.

Yo Ja I had and sold the XL for another 1k and already bought one. I do miss the XL because of the MTC which some has know clue that MTC is the most important tool on an MP.I've played with the 2500,and plan on getting that and the XL back. Now for those out there that don't use MTC,I would say get into it. When I had the XL,I would set up MY MPC2000XL to trigger CoolEdit Pro 2.0 and Track every track in from the MP with know problems.it's jus a great way to play around with more tracks in your DAW.

MTC as the most important tool on an MPC?? I don't know about that one.
Having some type of sync protocal is necessary when syncing sequencers. but Midi Clock is just as useful and provides great results as well.

So far, I haven't read any reports that the MPC 2500 doesn't perform well as a MTC or MIDI Clock Master.

i would say 3.05 is as stable as 2.01. crashwise, neither really ever froze up on me during composition. earlier betas did, once and a while, but 3.05 hasn't done it yet.

saving is another issue, and unfortunately that looks liek it's hard drive related. that new folder bug exists/directory error looks like they exist in both mpcs. however, there are workarounds of that to make sure you never see those issues. no big deal there - just minor irritations.

as for the new os, i don't know. it probably will have things here or there that need to be touched up, but unless they have made major changes (and screenshots/feature descriptiosn suggest otherwise) i don't think stability will be an issue. probably more like stuff doesn't immediately work like it is meant to.

new os bug solutions are predicted to reach into mid october. and hell, if the new os has some distressingly fatal bug that for some strange reason jj doesn't fix within a day or two, i''ll just switch back to 3.05 and continue work as normal.

so nym what have you heard about when jj or akai dropping 3.0 or a new one?

I still got $5 on that it won't be as stable....but enjoy anyway.
