ok so last week im making this beat, came out really good, i was on this beat for like 2 days workin on it, so im done with it, now i save the final version of it, ok so i got to my computer to load it and try to copy it to my folder beat list, and something really weird happens, the whole computer just goes to sleep mode!!! im like wtf??? so i turn it back on and try to copy it again and one more time back to sleep mode, so im like pissed, so before that i had load of up another beat to my mpc,, so i bring back my CF card to bring that beat up again to see whats wrong , and this is what happens, only the samples show up, im like nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
so now im really confused, and sad, maybe the mp saved it wrong, i remeber back with the old os, was what is 1.7? or watever the hell it was, i would save it and then i would check the folder to make sure everything did get saved(project, sequence, etc) and sometimes it wouldnt save, so i would just simply save it again, i was in the habit of doing that, but after the 2.1 drop i stop gettin that so i just forgot about making sure my shit gets saved, but anywayssss
i lost a good beat to some weird ass problem, i cried
oh yeah and this was with the OS 3.5......

It's wierd! I haven't lost one yet though. I wonder if people are saving correctly. Once you learn how to save properly it's a none issue.

i think they're saving "correctly" - that being, it should work, but unfortunately for us there are certain ways you have to save to be certani you'll get your shit saved right.

I never have lost anything(beat, pgms, samples, mid, seq, etc.) with either 2.1 or 1.7 os. What i do is save my program with samples and no to replace same samples in memory( when i save acopy of the pgm i just save the program only.)Now if i edit the samples like chop a lil off then when im all done i save the pgm over but when i save it i replace same sample in memory. Now when i save a sequence( I have never saved entire memory except when i create or update my autoload). Back to saving a seq-I highlight sequence on main page and then select user_to create an all file, then save it to memory card. I've only had one saving and loading issue---THE "FILE NOT FOUND!!" thing- and that was on my own fault cuz i saved a program that i deleted certain samples out of the memory, but not deleted them from the program- then i saved the pgm, then i load the next day and it says FNF-cuz its looking for a sample that beklongs at say PAD A11 and it wasnt save into the me card/folder..thats all. ****I have seen alot of people posting about this problem but me myself havent experienced this myself. GOOD LUCK. peace

I now have a very simple routine for saves:

1 - Create a new folder (I use one folder per project), or select the folder you created on a previous session.
2 - Hit SAVE and chose "save all seqs&songs" (don't bother renaming the ALL file)
3 - then Save "All Progs & samples" with "replace same files: YES" (always do YES, even if it takes some more time... you never know...)

I can only recommend this to anyone using the MPC1000, it really works well if you keep one folder per project.
Of course with this method you may duplicate a few programmes/samples in different folders, but I consider this issue minor (but I'm saving to HD, if you use CF for saves it may be an issue).
