polish jazz do you own an mpc? if so why dont you get it out and look at it, or better still RTFM! or do you need one of us to fly over to show you how to use it?

How long have you been making beats?

Ok, so lets say you use timing 16. Your snares will land on 5 and 13.

at the end of your bar count, on the last bar, try snare on 13, 14, and 16, with a kick on 15. Or, mabe just snare on 16, with a kick at 15.

You need to think of your sounds as numbers. There is no need for quantize. Your brain is the best tool out there for those dope ass beats.

Here is a little tip for that beat programming. When you listen to a track, think of numbers, not just beats. Visualize a grid. Now think of a black line moving down that grid as that beat plays. This is what I call "Seeing the beat."

press the button beneath it (F1 i think).

now you can apply swing. starts from 50%

you can press a particular pad (i.e. pad 1a) which may be your kick drum. you can apply your swing here just to your kick drum. same goes for the rest of your sounds.

you have to have TC (timing correct) turned ON to 1/16 or other. note that 1/16th Triplet has no Swing %, becuase it is a fully swung setting.

I have mpc for aprox one month but I had a lot of work at my university so I spend only a couple of days deal with it. Now I can start for real cause I ve got a lot of free time.
Yes I know that I can play beats live and I can also programing in a step section. Now I m doing half by playing and half by programing.
I also checked the swing function but I didn't hear any diference in beat. Maybe I did something wrong. Once again thanks for advice.

After you changed the swing setting you have to press 'Do It' for the setting to apply.

You should try to press the 'Open Window' button on everything, you'll be surprised at how many option screens the mps has.

I know that I didn't change "time function" in this window thats why I had a problems.
I ve never open window on TC cause I start makeing everything at 1/16.
I m not stupid like my english is.
Now everything is ok. But I think that can play better beats from pads.
The swing function is fake for beats.
