Can you take a beat that you created in a mpc1000
and load it into the 2000xl ? I have a friend who might get one because he can't afford the xl and he would like to preproduce in the 1000
and come to my studio to record and master songs. So can it be done or do he have to carry his 1000 with him when he gets it ?

The mpc2000 reads .wav files and midi data sequences so I can't see why not... what kind of disk are you planning on using?

If your one of the 1st 1000 you get a gig bag free ?
I was one of the first in n.y.c to have one 12/24/03 it kept crashing
even with the new operating system
1K is ALL you need
If your a sampling type producer maybe??
But I like to create original beats . I don't want to have to pay some old person part of my publishing or all.

I had the 1000 took it back. I have the 2000xl you must've haven't read the question !!
I'm not trying to get a 1000 I experienced a 600 dollar lost with it .
I Have a friend that's interested in the 1000 not me .
The question was can you use a sequence or song that you created on the 1000 and load it into the 2000xl ?
For instance lets say I sampled some drums and other little sounds and built a sequence or song with it , How should I save the program so that the 2000xl can load it without having to reassign the sounds to the pads all over again ?.
As far as loading it, I would transfer the file to my computer and then to zip disk . Does anybody know if the two machines are compatable with each other. When I had the 1000 I saved the the factory presets and tried to load one of the programs into the xl and got a wrong file error message .
I would think that akai would try to make them compatable for anyone trying to make a transition from one machine to the other ??
