Well, you may get offended...but I just don't believe you. with you wanting to have a few workstations at a time..especially with your choice of tools.

I really find it hard to believe that a 1000 user will get an MPC 500...

But who would really pay 700/800 on something just so they could make some beats while on the train or at the park. I like how with the 1k i can toss it in my backpack and head to a friends house to jam and for shows, but this dosnt seam to pratcial to me, esp for the price.

Your point is well taken but for someone like myself....I have mad midi cables and output cables coming from my 2500 and there is a mess of wires behind my computer desk where everything runs to my mixer so for me it is not practical to be unpluging that stuff everytime I want to take my mpc somewhere..........the 500 is a simple solution, plus it runs on batteries.

In my opinion the price isn't going anywhere.......it won't drop, akai is not stupid they know just how to price these things.

IMO if you own an mpc the 500 is a must have........it's only a matter of time before the 500 forum is the largest of all the forums in here(mark my words)this thing gonna spread like wildfire!!1

Why would you have to unplug and pack up your MPC for travel now that everyone and they momma has an MPC?? Save your files to disk and keep it moving....

Or multi-track your MPC tracks into a DAW save it as an OMF file to disk..take it with you to another studio...bam....

Well, I also have MPCs with MIDI/audio cables hanging out the back of them....I have something connected to every input/output. The 500 would be useful if it could faithfully reproduce my MPC tracks that were created using miltiple MIDI synths..since the MPC 500 has only a pair of MIDI connections....

WTF is there to believe? I use my monomachine hooked up to one drum machine (was machinedrum, now 500)... as the basis for my synth heavy stuff...and my MPC1000 as my sampling workstation...hooked up to a monosynth for bassline... what is so hard to believe about that? Not everyone works the same way. I could give a **** about a typical hip-hop set-up... or what others think about the way I spend my cash.

Not really...outside of the fact that I will have two MPCs...none of my stuff is redundant. Jahrome is just silly.... I'm not dreaming of picking up a MPC-500...I ordered one. I don't need to dream...I have a decent job. jahrome, you seem like you want a MPC-500 or you would just ignore this section of the forum. perhaps you are the one dreaming of this machine?

It wasn't too hard to ruffle you feathers :D

Collecting MPCs and other pieces of stuff I don't use is what I do. I have the two best MPCs (to be left up for argument) ever created. Although I do dream about MPCs..its not because I can't get what I want...its just a fetish of mine...maybe yours too

The only reason why I don't have an MPC 500 already...is because I was sleeping on the rumor......and the clowns at GC acted as if they didn't want a brother's money. So I kept my $650 and took the kids shopping...by the way, my little girl is nice on a drum set..and she really never played one before :D Damn I wanted to get her a set...but grades first.......

Oh..what were we chatting about??? MPC 500s? That's right. Well, I will pick up the MPC 500 or the MPD 24...hell maybe both...Probably won't use them much..but they will be there if I need em'

But I still don't believe you

I will give you that...I think you do own the two best MPCs. F guitar Center...they are a bunch of fools. They always help people that they think have alot of loot...instead of the guys who have the loot but might be dressed like they don't. Nothing wrong with spending loot on your kids.

bitoven,

You must be on your period. Relax, its not that deep.

As far as the MPC 500 and 1000...the 1000 was suppose to have been soooo portable over these past two years. Now it isn't so portable after all?? Now folks want an MPC 500 as a portable unit and the 1000 in the studio?? Oh really now

I, for one, have never considered the 1000 portable. To be portable...it must be battery powered.
