MPC2000xl How to record a sample

I jus bought a used MPC from a aquaintance, Never Made a beat b4, I down loaded the manual, and it says "NO SCSI Device" what is this, ive been tryin to find out online and it tells me stuff after i get the sample into the machine...Can someone help me get a sample into the machine...

wow, You should give it a little more effort before posting. Just get 1/4 inch cables to the mpc in . sample the audio thru there. assign it to a pad.

Admit it you are trying to wind us up aren't you? Next time ask how to turn the MPC off. Ow btw downloading the manual is not enough, you also need to read it, it explains everything you need to know about sampling and scsi devices etc etc.

Threads like this make me happier to own a dr-880,because at least I owned a drum machine emulation,before the more advanced stuff like a MPC,this guy said he has never made beats before and already has an MPC lol.If I gotta MPC now,I would'nt be as lost and clueless as this guy........to add to that I've own a s2000.

You can either sample via the RECORD IN or load up an sample that is either an .wav of .snd file.

i have 2kxl so this may be a lil different 4 u .....hook up a cd player, Ipod whatever(portable walkman is easy) to ur record ins in the back right hand side of your mpc hold down shift and push sample( will take you to sampling screen)....begin to play your cd player, you should see the bars go up and down in accordance to the music being played....when you know what you want to sample .. push f6 (record)....then again when u want to stop recording... use your cursor arrows to keep/assign to pads and then hit the pad u want that sample to be on.....if u wanna "tweak" go trim screen and or params to tune

can you sample like 20 seconds straight
and then chop it up and assign to the pads?
