External scsi zip drive with a 2500?

I worked on a 2000 and a 2000xl for ten years, recently got a 2500 and I cannot hook up a zip to it. I bought a new external zip with usb but the plugs are wrong, impossible to hook up and they make no adapter. I have thousands of beats and I really just want my sounds (drum sets, basses, synth samples, etc). Anyone else have this problem? I tried loading them onto a pc first then copying the files to the mp but the pc cannot read the files? Almost all sounds are .snd , I knew I should of saved them as wav files!!! PLEASE HELP

yeah man i got that same **** problem... i got tons of beats in my old 2000 xl and i want to reopen in 2500 but dont know how to

get a SCSI to USB converter, (i got a mac) so plug in the USB of your 2500 and just drag from your SCSI hard drive to your 2500 hard drive (if you have a hard drive in your 2500)

i found this using the search function and a bit of reading in the 2000 forum:

Ren, I bought a new usb zip drive, problem is both the zip drive and the mpc have a usb slave female plug, there is no plug or adapter that goes usb slave to usb slave both male. However I'm trying to find a usb male slave plug to scsi, I haven't yet. They have usb 2.o to scsi but not a MALE SLAVE PLUG!!! I'll keep you posted if I find one.

Selecta jo, my mac does not even see any files on the zip discs I have that I know are full of programs , sounds, etc. It only sees the zip disc as a blank disc. I've spent hours looking for drivers, extensions, programs, etc but nothing has worked. On my pc with windows it only sees a few files not all sounds, I saved each beat on 4-8 partitions on each disc, it's missing alot. I've also looked for programs, etc for a pc but nothing has worked. Any more ideas, please...

you don´t have to search for a converter, because there is no way to connect two usb slave devices directly to another. they are slave devices which means they need a usb host device to be accessed. you cannot hook up the usb scsi drive to the usb port on the mpc 2500 because they are both slave devices.

did you format the zips using the mpc 2000(xl?), or were they formated in a zip drive hooked to a computer?

there is even a link to a program that converts your mpc zip disks (30day trial). found this in google searching for "mpc zip to mac" on page 1 of the results.

I'm having the same problem. I spoke with Akai and was told to buy Translator by Chicken Systems. UPS delivered it yesterday. I figured out how to translate the files to my computer. Now, I have to figure out how to transfer them to my MPC2500. I'm also going to try some of the suggestions posted above.

Translator is great. Just convert all you .snd's to .wavs. BAtch process.
