Footswitches, what type?

Hi all,

I am going to get a couple of footswitches for my MPC, and I think I want the normally open, but I am not sure, so I'd thought I'd ask.

These would be for Play / Stop and overdub / play

AS far as I can see you'll need a dedicated midi footswitch, the ordinary footswitch (with a jack connector) will not work since MPC (2000(xl)) has no dedicate footswitch connector. There is however a workaround; connect your normal footswitch to this little box (http://www.midisolutions.com/prodfsw.htm) and from this box to the MPC.

I should have mentioned I have an MPC 60, which has 2 footswitch jacks.

yeah that changes it all anyway then I guess your best bet would be a siwtchable footwitch (no pun intended) that you can configure to open or close on press down.

Got them,

Hosa FSC-502 Normally open ,push closed Not a hold pedal.
I got them hooked up for play stop and overdub. It rocks. No need to stop banging to record.

On the 60 you can set it up for the erase button, timing correct (great for foot controlled rolls) + /- incriments, fast forward rewind, man it's deep.

And I thought I knew the 60!!!

It's really good for when you are using your controller or other synths and don't want to stop playing to enter overdub or record mode (does anyone actually use record over overdub???)

$17 each. Too good!!!

One cool thing, with the sequencer stopped, you can hit the overdub pedal and the light stays on and you can then hit play and be in record mode.

Funny, this doesn't happen by just pressing the button.
