Well, VST is an authorized Akai repair center so it doesn't really matter if you return it to Akai or them. I have personally received excellent service from both this past month.

You laugh Ato, but hes got a good point. If you have a prob with the MPC then phone Akai, are they going to tell you to unload your "unsupproted" OS before they will help. Or what about when you send it off to repair??? Will they have problems fixing it because it has unusal OS on?

it isn't really a good point. what's stopping you from reinstalling an akai os before you call/send it in?

that is if you cant figure out what's wrong for yourself, and at this point in my interaction with the mpc, if i were ever to have a serious problem (a tiger came in and pissed on my mpc), it wouldn't be akai i would call, it'd be VST for a replacement board or w/e needed fixing.

You are difficult aint ya Antonym. Im in the UK so I think that VST is a US service center. The Akai customer base does stretch outta the insular U S of Hoo har.

But I get your point about loading n unloadin OS's. So I deduce from what you said that Akai wouldn't support the JJ OS.

Dont get me wrong - Im all for open source, just wish that I could have the OPTION.

You know what else i would like to see different in the new os?

Right now , when auditioning samples from the harddrive , you can't scroll while a sample is playing.
I like to scroll through a bunch of kicks , snares, etc... and pre-listen to select the right sound , but every time you press play , you can't scroll untill the sound stops.
It isn't really a problem , but i like to this fast and i keep skipping samples because of the breaks.

Just a small thing but if JJ is going to code a new OS , he might as well change this too.

Greetz...

It seems that JJ removed the 2500 SO info from their site, anybody knows anything?

hah! nice! sooner than i thought. note how the 2500 os didn't go through all the no-named betas - it went straight to 3.0.

i'm gonna pm Tutor to make the 1000 3rd party os a 1000/2500 os forum...

That's a horrible idea. The 2500 should have its own thread.

you're a tool. the os's are going to be identical, which leads to the exact same discussion and questions. there will be no additional code put into the 2500 os that won't be put into the 1000 os, and vice versa. what exactly qualifies the 2500 os for its own subforum exactly? especially since you have no intention of using it? the fact that there are more assigneable outs?

edit - unless you thought that i meant to merge THIS forum w/ the 1000 jj os forum, in which case you need to take a course in reading comprehension

That's a horrible idea. But of course you would like to hang out more with MPC 2500 users :P

You are the clown that needs to take a class in 'reading comprehension'...nowhere in my post does it say/imply anything other than the 2500 should have its own forum. Whether its a JJ OS or an Akai OS.

aaaaaaaaaand you still give no justification

It wasn't my intention to justify anything.

But since you want to know, I rather have a forum with less kids involved.

MPC 1000 users=kids under 17
