greetings to all...

need some help / advice

got a keyboard; got an mpc

want to sample into the mpc for saving (zip disk), FROM MY KEYBOARD

can I sample with MIDI; if so, HOW???

tried it last night...and could not hear any sounds come through on my MPC.
I tried - MIDI out from keyboard to MIDI in on MPC...and shift-sample and when I played the keyboard...NOTHING....dead silence.

HELP, please.

thanks.

You gotta' read up on what MIDI is.
Basically you use the MPC to trigger the keyborad/vice versa.
There's no audio being sent between the two, just data.

You gotta hook up the 1/4" L/R audio out to the audio in of the MPC.
You should hear something then.

I haven't tried it that way, I send the audio out to mixer then to MPC. (got more gear)

Oh, you won't be able to control the keyborad and sample at the same time with the MPC, different windows for playing and sampling.

FYI
If you use "Recycle" you can actually "transfer" samples from your pc to your sampler via midi. (audio data actually transfers via midi!)

This can be quite a useful feature.
My 2 cents,

you'll probably also need a mixer so you can hear everything at once. not sure if that was mentioned
