Hey Guys... This may not be the right forum and I guess I soon shall find out but I have to ask...

Why do I hear the MPC drums while triggering my Virus?

Instead of explaining my MIDI flow and taking up some time, can someone suggest a correct set up?

I am not new to MIDI and using multiple devices but for some reason no matter what route I take, I either hear the MPC along with the Virus when my controller keys are hit OR I hear just the MPC depending on settings.

I have searched and read the manual in both devices but I can't figure out what's happening.

Any help?

Thanks!

On your MPC midi tracks, is the "Pgm:" field turned "OFF"? It's hard to tell with the info you provided, but that may be it.

new problem...lol

i got a moog little phatty today... now this is my controller... BUT
i have the phatty "Local=OFF" so this way i don't hear the phatty unless I select it from the MPC... the phatty goes into my MPC and then there is one out going to the Virus an one out going to the Phatty...

i hear the drum pattern play fine
i even selected the phatty via the MPC (MIDI:1B) and recorded a bass line and it sounds great...

now, i select MIDI:1A (the virus) I can trigger the virus (and not hear the moog which is how it should be) but when i hit record or play on the mpc and trigger the Virus, the key that I am holding is also being sent back to the Moog which in return messes with the bass line i dropped on the previous track with MIDI:1B

any ideas? it seems like the MIDI is being sent to the moog and the virus during record or play only, but when when the MPC is not playing or recording the system acts how it should?

***My midi info is:
Active track: ALL
Soft Thru: AS TRACK

I also noticed that i can trigger the virus with the pads without interfering with the moog... not sure how this helps, but....lol

The pads should only trigger the virus when at 1A. Also make sure the pads only trigger the LP in 2B.

Interesting question though. I assume you started the other thread. But anyway, today I saw interesting behavior. I saw parameters in my virus changing while I had a sequence running. Then again often I accidently record stuff I dont intend to record because I don't realize record is still on.

Make sure you didn't accidently record 1B. Check the step sequence information. Also try it in another sequence or empty sequence.

Oh yea, is the virus going to the moog? Also try channel two for the virus or something.A2.
Just throwing some thoughts out there.

weird... it still happens sometimes... i can't seem to recreate it... thanks for your help man... as far the freaky messages sent to your virus... i don't know... my virus was catching stuck notes before... even started buggin out on part 2 by not getting any midi although the other channels did, it ended up making some crazy noise and i had to shut it off...
