It starting to wear on me and I'm using it, whereas before I couldn't even spell that word, it's Cooocooo's fault -that fkn guy- :D . I can't help it though, it's such an accurate description. That's why it is stuck in my head now, it's "the truth".

Someone also said that they used they EXACT same samples. Chopped the EXACT same way, the EXACT same file. Whoever the slowpokes are that missed that they know who they are too. However, the slowpokes, whoever they may be, did bring up a valid point. However I was already conscious of that same issue a year ago when I tested this out. That is why I used the exact SAME .wav file.

Ok, here is the EXACT file I used on those MP3 files I uploaded before which showed some examples of different swing settings. If I do happen to be wrong about this..fine! However, I still think the swing could be improved regardless of the outcome of the test.

ONE.. Listen to the man ucacjbs he ain't a loozer :D
May be you don't need to bother for the swing settings for the moment..you don't like gallop..it's about a matter of taste..now some people can get inspired by this gallop cause you can mute some hits from this gallop..choose the sample(s) on each hit..edit the velocities of each..many things are possible .
Now try this next time you make a beat: you record a simple 8th note 1bar pattern with just kick & snare at say 83bpm then you assign a cymbal to 16 level velocity and you play different pads with tap tempo set to 16th..gallop swing..or not ..8)

baaaah

just to show you how is life... here 4 different template i find/made to use with any sequencer...

http://www.zomarec.com/Templates/MPCTEMPLATE.zip

- one is from Digital Performer 5 Template... translated to midi

- one is from LUG

- one is from Reason template i find on the net

- one is from GURU MPC groove translated to midi

i think the LUG and the Digital Performer 5 are the best....

some of them use to anticipate 3 and follow notes....

peace all

It's the same with all the mpc (roger linn swing). If you don't want it to sound like crap, stop using that really lame hh sound and use 3-4 hihats sounds, and change velocity as well as shifting.

I don't mind if JJ OS is fixing REAL bugs or adding new stuff, but don't modify functions that were already working properly in the mpc-1000 b/c you can't use them. I think i speak on everyone behalf when i say your not alone on this planet, and most of us don't want the swing to change to some screwed up crap cause you can't use it properly.

hahah i concur in a more respectful manner...

use 3-4 hihats sounds, and change velocity as well as shifting.

now THAT is a bug fix.

swing should be used with more than one sample.... almost like youre playing the drums :D i tried it last night but it aint me. i play quantize off and punch in one bar at a time til it loop right...

....but what do i know. if it aint broke, why the hell should they fix it? ???

Obviously what I'm talking about is BEYOND some of you. Man, OK, obviously we know how to make beats here. What about learning how to read?? I think that is the biggest problem here.

Image

I do understand how to use it. Do you know how to read??? Seriously! What part of saying I program my hats manually don't you understand? How is better swing lame? I chose a generic hat and did nothing to it just to show the Swing on the MPC accuarately. It's great you obviously have some insight on programming hats, but your pretty damn clueless when it comes to reading coprehension. Thanks for the "help" ya'll, but please google ths word ........ LITERACY.

As far as Roger Linn swing?? Roger Linn hasn't been with Akai since I belive the MPC 3000 was produced. The SWING on the 1k DOES NOT sound like the swing on the other MPC's. If you want Roger Linn Swing. THe 1k doesn't quite pull it off as well as the other MPC's.

NO, I didn't sit there and go through the programming of the OS, No I didn't sit there and analyze the data. I'm saying there IS quite a difference to the EAR between the different MPC's, and the 1k's swing could definitely be improved.

Anyways, It's obvious I'm wasting my time and energy here, as I don't think most people will even bother to read this and understand where I'm coming from here. Obviously, there are a few that do get it, but whatever. Everyone knows the different MPC's have different character when it comes to sound, etc etc. and it's all true. you will know this ONLY if you have extensively worked with the different models with the SAME sounds and files.

Regardless. I put in a request to JJ. If he/they decide to make any changes, so be it. Until then keep using your great techniques to work around what the other MPC's do slightly better. I know I will, and I'm done here. I really have nothing more to say on this.

Peace!
