yo jwat, dont get the djx. its as basic as keyboards get. you'll be bored with it by jan 1.

save up some doe and buy a used synth from ebay, craigslist, or your local music shops.
you will regret blowing $300 on the djx (if ur buying it new)
i wouldnt pay no more than $50.00 for it, and i would only use it as a midi control

What do ya mean boring? The sounds should'nt get repetitive....since it is a synthesizer....then on the other side it's a sampler.......I just need more sounds and keys....because I make better melodies with keys than pads, and I might lay down some bass with it......if you're right I 'll just use it as a controller.......for christmas I plan to get the DJX and the MPD 16 to control the small...tiny.....microscopic pads on my dr-880.

sell the 880, dont buy the djx, dont buy the mpd16 and then use all the money to get a mpc2000, atleast.

Jwhatt if possible go for an Roland JV-880 module and if u sale your Akai S-20 then u could cop a cheap midi controller. Also check into the Casio WK-3500 keyboard. I owned it and the sounds arent bad also it does have an onboard sequencer and a floppy drive so check dat out to. Good Luck wit your Christmas man!!

Nicole

p.s. What would u be willing to let go for an mpc?
