nobledru wrote:See if your motif can do midi dumps. If so, see if you can dump your current multi setup. Just read the manual. On the MPC just find a sequence you are not using and set a track to midi and choose channel 1 then press record on the mpc then dump data from motif. After that, save the sequence or save .all and it should work. It works for me but I use a EMU PK6. When you want to load, just load up the sequence or .all file in your MPC and from the sequence you dumped to press play. This will load the stuff you dumped. I hope I helped..

When I do this, my MPC's last bar stops or sort of pauses before it goes to the first bar after I have saved everything, I turn loop back on and it loops but the last bar sort of pauses before the first bar plays. The rest of the bars play fine expect that last one AT THE END of the bar. I am using MSB and LSB now and would like to get away from that, any suggestions?

bboutit- On the MPC 2000XL set LOOP:OFF. Those pauses is normal.

The real question is, that EVEN after I save and reload and turn Loop back to ON, the pause is still present when the sequence is playing. It is not as evident as a stop, but I see on the MPC that the loop sort of pauses when it reaches the last bar. A normal loop doesn't do this.

Also, don't dump to a sequence or pattern you already made. Find a empty sequence and dump to that.

Getting somewhere, that's what I was doing. Now when I do dump to another sequence nothing plays back... Ya know, like all the timing and everything is defaulted in a new sequence, when I dump no of that changes. That is why I was doing it in the same sequence.

bboutit- Find a empty sequence and dump the data in that sequence. You won't really hear anything because its SYSEX DATA. To keep your songs you create and stuff on the motif together save to .all so all the sequences are together. If you dump to where your pattern is it will mess up the timing. You just need one sequence free to do this.

HOW CAN I SAVE MIDI DATA USING A ROLAND RS-5 & A MPC 2000? HOW CAN I SET THE SYTH SO IT DOSENT CHANGE SOUNDS WHEN USING ANOTHER BANK?

Once you dump your stuff back to the Motif move back to the sequence where you pattern is. Everything should be how you save it. I hope I'm not confusing the situation.

I am using a Proteus 2000. I did what you said and dumped that data into MIDI Track 01 01 on my MPC in a blank sequence, turned off the Proteus and turned it back on, hit play and the sounds were defaulted back to the user presets. The only time the correct sounds play was when I dumped the data into a free midi track in the sequence I was working on and then I had the timing issues I mentioned earler. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I can't get it to work unless I dump in the same sequence.

Mantis69 turn your recieve program change off on the Roland RS-5 to fix the sounds so they won't change. If you read through this thread, you can get a basic idea how to dump data from your Roland. I suggest reading the manual to your Roland and Akai. PEACE

Don't dump the data in a free midi track you are working on. Find a empty sequence. Use a track on the empty sequence to dump the data. once you do that. You can load the data back from that sequence. Name it something so you know thats the sequence you load your dump. If you press play from the sequence you dumped to, it will load your currentsetup in your Motif. Trust me it works. Move back to the sequence or song you are working from and go to work. When you want load your dump play the sequence you dumped to. I was doing the same thing you are doing when I first tried this. Hope I could help. J

I got it to work, I played back the DUMP sequence and then played the original. So more less the DUMP sequence must accompany the original sequence to tell it what to do. The BIG point I was missing was that the Data has to be DUMPED for EACH Track, I was thinking that it was only needed to be dumped on ONE track for all tracks.

Heads up ppl: When doing this remember:

When dumping to New Sequence

OLD------NEW

Midi 1 to Midi 1

Midi 2 to Midi 2

Midi 3 to Midi 3

Thanks a lot Noble, you have saved me a lot time from that MSB LSB Bullschit!!

***Update***
You can see the Banks changing automatically when you load the Dump sequence.
