Data Wheel skipping?

I've read several post about data wheel noise and the fact that many MPC2500 users just don't like the feel of it. However, I have not seen any complaints about the data wheel skippiing.
For instance, I have to turn my data wheel 2,3 or even 4 times before it changes the value of the field that I am editing. Is anyone else having a similar experience? If so, what did you do to remedy it?

how long have you had it? how aggressively have you used it? you can get a replacement encoder for 8 bucks at vst.

Yeah, but only when I turn it really slow...and it only skips like one click at the most. Most of the time it works just fine though even when I turn it slow.

I've had it about a week. I bought it used from the original owner who had it
for 6 months.

Antonym, is the replacement encoder the actual knob (data wheel) that you turn or something that works inconjunction with the data wheel?
The reason I ask is because it seems like the data wheel is fine, but maybe something underneath it is causing it to skip.

Mine seems to skip with slow turns and fast ones.

I think I'll look into that encoder that Antonym mentioned.
