any suggestions on a mixer for my 8 extra outs?

havnt used my 8 outs yet but was thinking bout buying a mixer for it.if anyone knows a desent cheap mixer that will get the job done let me know whats up.

If you can find it I would say try out the Tascam tm-d1000. Now I know some others might think how I run mine is a waste. But I am here to tell you, Many of the majors I have worked with think it is killer (and that is all that matters to me - is the people that pay me).

I have two mixers (well I have about 4 but the two I work with most times)

1) Tascam DM-24
2) Tascam TM-D1000

I run the 8 out on my MPC to the D1000's 8 in and that mixer is only used for the MPC. Might seems a bit over kill, but trust me, it works. Because the TM is Digital I can also run everything into the computer on one go with out haveing to run it back after ever few track. It has big tools on it as well, and can work with Pro Tools or Cubase as a Mixer controler. You can also automate the mix from Cubase or Pro Tools to the Mixer. So if I wanted to do something freaky to the track using tools only found in Cubase I can send it over to my mixer and it understands the change. Like Auto Paning, or doing a track mute from the mix, or maybe doing a track that fades in over time from the MPC, and things like that. Stuff you can not find in the MPC alone. It is an old Tascam Mixer, but I told a friend about it, and he went out to get one (ebay) and now he loves it.

I will say this about the mixer. If can do a lot of Big boy stuff, but it is not the easy one when it comes to understanding how to do everything you want. You are going to spend some time understanding it. Only because it has two modes a Mix mode and a Record Mode. Now I only run mine in mix more now days, but it has some cool stuff in both, if you like to try.

word,i found a D1000 for under 100 but theres also a couple days left on the bid.but yeah i think i might get one an try it out with my cubase too.nice recommendation man.

One thing I will say, is this. I have a love hate thing going on with Tascam. It seems when they come out with something new, what is old, is so old, that they never support it. But that mixer is the Bomb. I tell you, that if you get it, keep it safe. But for the cost that you are talking about if you are able to get a good year out of it without issue you are good.

That mixer is killer, and I must say I am a Pro at it. So if you ever get it, and need help let me know. I have done eveythin that can be done with it, and when I tell you anyone that might have over looked it. Well let me just say this. Check out Red Man's "Got to have it!" and you will hear some of what can be done with it. Everything was done one the MPC with the TM-D1000 as the mixer for it.

so around how long you think you been using your D1000?I plan on atleast getting a few good years out of it before i'll upgrade....

Well I have had the TM-D1000 for 6 years and no issues at all. But I also went with the TM-24 and I have had nothing but issues with it. One time it was fixed thanks to the recall, the 2nd time it was on me.

The D1000 was Tascams 1st try at Digital Mixing, and it was way cool, but when they came out with the DM-24 (about a year later) i went to it right.

Well no sooner than the 24 was out, you could find nothing about the D1000 on the site. So when they come out with something new, the old stuff is gone as for how they feel. But again I have a friend that just got a D1000 and it was used, and it seems to be working without issue. So I would say it is a good buy. At the cost you are talking about, it is a must. But keep in mind, you might be search hard and long looking for the upgrades or add on parts you know.

But even out of the box, it was killer. Most of the stuff I have added on (Another 4 FX) I dont really use now. Out of the box, you can not ask for much more for near or under $100. I hope you can get it. I am telling you...for that mixer...it is the Bomb. The idea of having a solo mixer just for the MPC is more than you can ask for.

I know others might thing it is over kill - but that is what I wanted - over kill for my MPC!

I would tend to agree with the TM-D1000, we have three we use here in the studio, all in diiferent ways, usually in the form of a monitor mixer. I have a little twist to add to it.....you can use an old MOTU 2408 MK1 to take the 8 unbalanced outs from the 2000xl in and convert to either ADAT or TDIF. The D1000 comes with one TDIF connector that addresses inputs 9-16 on the board. So out of the MPC into the 2408 and then digital to the D1000.

I also use the MKII on my DM-24 it is killer as well. And the setup sound like a good one.

It would really be nice if he could find the PCI-822 (Tascam TIDIF Sound card). I use that for my D1K and my MPC and it works basicly like a MK2 (well you know what I am saying as for sending mix to the computer). It is not anywhere near the power of the MKII but it works.
