yeah man definitely. it's not something that's beyond any of us. you don't even have to solder, just got to get a couple materials together and spend some serious time doing it. i like to download bad horror movies and even burn one while i do it now that i'm not really too nervous about it anymore.

all this stuff is really worth knowing anyway.

nym.. here's an idea for you..

you should have a weekly or monthly YouTube show.. where you give mpc1k tips and tricks.. anything from grid edit tricks to making a new pad sheet... damn bro

i'd snd you donations.. haha

yo i don't think this stuff is even graphite, the more i look the more i think we've mislabled this gunk.

it's some kind of semiconductor.

i'm doing research right now...

i asked the jj about this and got a response:
Information on PAD.

PAD of MPC1000 is the rubber which resistance changes with pressure.
Low Pressure = High resistance.
High Pressure = Low resistance.

here's the next question i pose to anyone with a knowledge on this kind of stuff. which type, and how thick should it be?

I'm not sure what the proper thickness needs to be (JJ might know). But so far, you're making alot of progress. Keep up the good work! 8)

well, i ordered the softer 45 A rather than the harder 60 A. i got it at .02" thickness.

according to a chart, 70 A is the hardness of a tire. i figure the softer the rubber, the more sensitive it will be. between a very sensitive rubber and the PAD SENSITIVITY settings, it should work well.

and hey, if this one's too sensitive, i can always pick up another. this way you can customize the feel of your pads. this way you could even put on different sensor kits when you wanted a different feel.

^^^ Sounds like you made the right decision, since the original material in the 1k is much softer than a tire.

When the material arrives, compare it to the 1k and let us know if theres any difference.

next thing i did - using some VHS head cleaner (rubbing alcohol solvent) and a qtip i cleaned my sensors. lots of gunk on em, now they're spankin clean.
