oh god, my mpc doesn't start up anymore! please help!

worst case!
i installed os 4.22 yesterday, all went fine. i switched my mpc on and off several times, no problems.
a few hours later i tried to switch it on again and nothing happened. the display gets a bit brighter but nothing else. no hd-sound, no green buttons, nothing.
i tried to boot with the 'window' button down and it works, it starts the os-installation-screen, i can actually write a new os to the flash-rom, but then, when it comes to booting, it's the same again. no lights, no hd-sound, blank screen.
did anyone experience this before, any ideas what could have happened? please help me with that!

Did you perform the factory reset after install (hold ERASE on power-up)?

i just tried it, nothing happens. bright blank screen...

damn that sucks man...
I don't really know what you can do other than disconnecting any gear and perhaps removing the hard drive if you have one in there... maybe unplugging it from the wall for a bit and installing a different OS.
I wonder if this has something to do with 4.22. I think I'll wait before installing that one.

i'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with jjs os... i installed os 2.10 and it still won't boot. and i left it off the power supply for 12 hours, still nothing. and i just took out my hd, but it just won't work anymore. i'm gonna remove the ram now...

alright!!! it's working again! something happened to the ram. i removed it, pluged it back in and now it starts again. damnit, i was worried! thanks for you support guys.
one more question: does the new os (i'm on 4.22 again) take more time to boot? i'm waiting more than 5 seconds from turning it on until it shows the first bootscreen...

damn,it might be the JJ OS since when you had it loaded in the first place this all happend. wow, thats why i havent switched over to the JJ OS yet and now im probably not going to at all

i don't wanna scare you, and i still think jjs os ist much better than the original 2.10. it was just the memory-stick which made trouble, not the os. no software can harm hardware!

i know the original poster's issue has been taken care of (congrats) but i'm gonna have to point out that this mistrust in the jj os is entirely misplaced

there has been no incident of the jj os destroying any mpc, a single one. anyone who is sketched out by it has condemned themselves to working with an inferior product out of irrational and groundless fear

Definitely a hardware issue. Faulty RAM and Faulty RAM connections have always been an issue with the MPC line regardless of software.
