The standard MPC2000 doesn't seem to read computer burned CDs (the XL does) - so far there seems to be no way around this, unless you can create an Akai format image on the CD - this should be read fine.
To create Akai images, you need Disk2File software (try Google)

"I have a burned cd w/ drum kits on it and the mpc reads that one"
Tutor is referring to a CD written with the PC file structure. The CD you refer is likely a copy of a CD in MPC format (one created from an MPC drive image).
I burn CD's all the time that any MPC reads by writing to a computer CDR. It is not hard to do and the information is easily found searching.
