Pad disaster

quite simply - my pads have just stopped working

they do nothing - when i press the MODE button, then hit one of the pads, nothing

i cant load anything or perform any other pad functions

all the other buttons work, its jsut the pads

anyone else had this problem? fixed it?

it quite a worry as ive got a gig in a couple of weeks time - and the mpc is the backbone of the whole thing... dont want to have to cancel

get that shit into a Repair shop or buy a new one then return it after the gig

weird. i assume you tried turning the unit off to see if it would reset whatever went wrong? and checked the pad velocity settings?

can you hook up a midi controller and control the samples that way to narrow this down to a pad specific hardware issue?

if anyone knows of a place that can repair an mpc in the uk let me know

i cant check the pad velocity settings cause i cant get into any of the menus that you have to access by pressing a pad

i took the mpc apart to check if there were any loose connections - everything seems fine

ive rolled back the o.s. to the first one aswell - bascially restored it to how it came out hte box - still no joy

how long to akai guarantee their products for? ive had it 1yr9months at the moment

its not a software issue, so it must be hardware - something going wrong somewhere between where the pads interface with the rest of the unit i suppose

I know you said you rolled back the OS, but did you try the MPC reset? I think it is power on while holding the ERASE key. Worth a shot... it won't hurt anything... I seem to remember someone else having a similar problem and the reset worked for them. I don't think all the pads would go out at the same time if it were due to faulty pads... it must be something else more simple than bad pads. Try that reset...

reset tried a few times - again - no joy

ive had really bad experiences with cimple in the past - theyre the only placei nteh uk ive found - but - it would be a last resort to ever get in touch with them again

anyone else got any ideas?

have you tried contacting AKAI?

if u re good in fixing electronics, i would try to disassemble the unit
to check all! connections from the pads to the motherboard and also
the voltage cables.... (caution static electricity). hope it helps.

Hey shylock try this,, hit MODE then Pad 9, hit F1 to go to the midi screen go all the way down to were it says PAD TO INTERNAL SOUND u may have this on NO so switch it to YES and wala!!!! U should here ur sounds again>>

Funny how people want to help others out without bothering to actually read the post describing their problem.
