If any one doesn't mind giving me the run-down on current issues with the 2500 that might hinder the production process? I'm really looking to get a 2500, I have a 1000, and an MV8000...don't get me wrong they're both great...but the midi out puts on both are limited. I want to have the 2500 and MV8000 in my home studio(where I have multiple keyboards and modules and do most of my production), and use the 1000 for portable purposes (to and fro big studio). I know you guys aren't salesmen....but any insight would be helpful...I've searched the site for bug issues and complaints...but most were old.....I'm mainly interested in the state of the 2500 as of right now, especially MIDI outs C and D. I'd rather ask you guys, and take a chance on getting hasseled (ROASTED) for the post, as opposed to going through the hassel of spending $1500 on something that wont work porperly. thanks to all......

The MPC 2500 has one limitation that is common with ALL MPC 2500s....SLAVING to MTC doesn't work as it should.

There are also some reports of people MPCs freezing when they create folders on their hard drives after the drive have been asleep for awhile. I haven't had this issue so I believe it is specific to certain hard drives because I have never encountered this issue. For anyone having this issue, I advise creating folders for projects at the start of production..like you would do when creating music with any MAJOR digital audio recording software...or saving your project to a flash card, where there hasn't been any reports of this issue.

Thanks, I had a feelin' you'd be the one to come through for me LOL....That MTC thing is kind of serious though...as I would need to sync it to SONAR and PRTOOLS for tracking..although i could align it manually....do you predict a fix in the near future?????

There will probably be a fix in the future so it works the way it should....however, to get it to work, simply set the MPC as a MTC slave, pres play, and it is placed in standby until you send an MPC signal from a master. Once that happens, it is sync'd. So it doesn't work as it should, but it still works. You also have the option of using the MPC as an MTC slave.

Another option is using the free JJ OS which has it working as it should. But when you compare the end results, they both accomplish the same thing.

I experienced that a while back. I had moved a bunch os samples and folders from my computer to the MPC via USB. During this, a folder or two got corrupted with similar results you have experienced. It hasn't happen again since.....

This is what you said in another post:

No, dont freeze...please....AW YOU F**KER!
When ive got a few sequences rolling and im messing about with the Note repeat and track mutes etc sometimes when I go to change sequences from the main screen the unit just freezes - and its totally crashed!! I guess its cos im going a bit fast & bashing too many buttons too quickly..

I cant recreate this bug.. It just always happens when you think aah, better save this but ill just listen to it once more then FREEEEZE!! Then thats it work gone u gotta turn it off and reboot. This happens about once every 2 weeks. Im runnin os 1.22, but it still did it on os 1.1 and os 1.0..

Nearly kicked the f**kin thing all round the studio last night!

Does anyone else's do this or is it just my one..

yeah I was well p*ssed off when I wrote that! But I think that is either down to my individual machine or me trying to do too much at once!

But this guy is asking what they're like overall...

Overall im happy with the machine.. 4 midi outsn is a godsend! loads of the problems I had at the start have been sorted out.. USB crashes etc. Compared to what it was like when I got it last April its great..

I passed up an OB12 for 400 at GC. Always regretted that ...
