MPC 60 floppy drive in MPC3000 work???

would an MPC 60 floppy drive work in an MPC 3000? my 3000 floppy drive is bad and I have an MPC 60 floppy drive that works. Could I swap them?Thanks.

The MPC60 shipped with a few different versions of FLOPPY drives. ( ALPS / PANASONIC / SONY and TEAC )

The TEAC model is what is seen in most :

If you have the correct TEAC model with jumper block present then you'll be in luck.

In most cases the drive will just need re-jumpering.

Thanks Rohan. One more question, I sometimes get the error: [FF10:306/29/00] when I load my zip disks(external drive) on os 3.11. It usually applies to one sound cause I am able to load others sounds but the program doesn't load. I can only load separate sounds one by one. And sometimes its only one partition of the disk where another partition will load correctly(I saved my program on another partition to be safe)Do you know whats causing this?Thanks.

Make sure that you save important data to multiple disks, at least 3!

Zips are very unreliable, I would not depend on them for critical data storage.

I also have a 2000 where I've been fortunate to never have a zip problem(never got any kind of errors ever) and I just got a 3000 and every now and then I get this error. So I'm curious as to whats causing it. Thanks

Even though we have been having a communication about this ZIP error via email in relation to other enquiries ...... I'll post a response about this error here:

Regarding your ZIP<>MPC3000 communication error.

Here is a decode of your error message:

The MPC3000 displays its storage communication error
messages in line with ANSI standards associated with
the SCSI protocol.

The message is displayed as:

[MPC ERROR CODE:SCSI sense key/Additional Sense
code/Additional Sense Code Qualifier]

[FF10:306/29/00]

FF10 = The MPC3000 should display an error message of:

"Sorry, this file (or possibly the
entire disk) contains damaged data.
For safety, transfer any other good
files on this disk to another disk
and stop using this disk."

306 = Non recoverable data error or a checksum error
during data transfer

29/00 = Power on, reset, or bus device reset occurred.

Sounds like the ZIP drive or its media is failing. ( more likely the media )

ZIP100 or ZIP250

If ZIP250 then 100meg or 250meg carts being used

If ZIP100 then true SCSI model

All I can think of right now.
