Any know if there are any differences between models for the Japanese market and the Western market?(MPC-1000)

I am talking about if there are any differences in the context of picking one up when in Japan. Firmware comparability, roman letters etc.

Someone mentioned that some music equipment for the Japanese market do not have the same model number and different firmware than in USA and Europe.

I think you are pretty safe buying akai products from asia. just make sure you get the proper power converters so you don't fry the unit.

yes, there is a diffrence, the power... u need to get power that matches your area (united ststes), i got my 2K here in japan and i use a old trnasmitter to connect it to power, cuz its diffrent volts here... but they do have and western and eastern versions of teh MPC's here in Japan..

you just gotta pick teh right onw.

1000's have automatic power / voltage conversion. No step down / up converter needed.

Same deal with MPC2000 & MPC2000XL
No transformer needed, just the appropriate power cord.

how about the 3000?

I believe the MPC3000 needs a voltage specific to the region it was sold in.
Otherwise, you will need a transformer to get it to work in a country with a different voltage.
