old pad solution discussion - we decide on mail out DIY kits

time frame - a couple weeks. gotta let all the materials get shipped. i'm waiting on samples right now to make sure it's the right thing

i just ask that all of you hold on and be patient - you will not be disappointed.

there will be an instructional video. thanks tel, but i work in a video editing studio on campus so i'll call up somebody's favor that they owe me.

i'm really amazed by how many of these mpcs are faulty from different countries other than the US. that's a real puzzle right there.

voted for 3 and i'm from a foreign country too.
although i have a BK and have to say that my pads work well now and are very sensitive (compared to a friend's 2500)

Would be interested in number 3 DIY too - In the UK here.

I've had my 1000 since they first come out (red and blue) and have had no pad problems at all - maybe i'm just lucky??!

But lots of folks seem to eventually have trouble with them so I'd order up a number 3 fix incase things started to go downhill.

Like so many other's I too opted to vote for option #3. BUT, I do like the Idea of a solution that I could Install myself. Not because I weary of shipping away my MPC, but because I get a kick out of maintaining and upgrading my gear.

Here's a thought. Remember back in the day, there was some third party company making raised rubber pads for the MPC 3k? Basically, the pad set higher off of the surface of the MPC's body. It was said to improve the feel of playing it. How about offering that as a possible mod/upgrade in addition to what you've done?

As a supporter of your time and research into this problem, I want you to know that I'm willing to pay whatever it is you need, Wanting You to make a profit. I wholeheartedly believe that the time and effort you've expended with this matter was for the betterment of the MPC 1k and it's community.

I've Been an Mpc user since like 92', and I've owned them all at one time or another except for the 4k & the 2500. I'm sayin all this just to make the point that I think the 1000 is the SHIZZNIT!!! And I'm not even on the JJ o.s yet...
Your pad fix is all I'll really need for now.

this is EXACTLY what i have in mind. i'd probably just include that standard.
the pads i'm making are going to look a little different than the akai ones - not like funky different, but they will look more rugged and WILL feel better/give more accurate pressure readout.

i was talkin with a couple people, all whom said they could usually get velocities of 100-127 and 40-60 or so. but that it's difficult to get the areas in between.

using somewhat thicker and softer rubber will give us better response.

also, since the top of the new sensor is domed, there is no need to dome the rubber pad for corner hits.

the customized deluxed pads idea is great. my pads havent gone out yet, but i could find even more justification in the preemptive swap if theyd make me pretty and indestructable.

good score on the "dome sensor" nym! that will really make a difference to those fast hits. and the velocity makes all the difference.
i'm getting really stoked on these new pads, it will be more like jumping into bed with a hot lady and less like walking on pavement barefoot.

i'm still tryin to figure out how to get around having people solder but it might be a little more expensive, since i'll have to do it myself/buy the materials, cable connectors, etc. shouldn't be a whole lot more, but at least this way people will be able to slap the fix right into their mpcs and get moving.

Bump. I'll pay extra man. I dont knwo what your looking to charge but liek i said in the Akai fix dead pads sticky these "ill pay $20" peopel probably would never buy it anyway. Id expect to pay at least $100 for a easy to install robust pad kit. Shit. It beats teh hell out of an extra 1000 for a 2500 or $200 for an mpd which ill need to use midi on. Do this man. As soon as yuor ready ill buy it straight up. And if it works well for me I knwo at least 2 other peopel that would definately get it. And this is just one neighbourhood in Melbourne australia.

Yo! i just caught this post! at this point i would like to do it myself #3 but whatever this pad issue is a thorn in my side and since we are relatively close (Ohio to Virginia) if i have to send you my mpc sans memory and harddrive ill do it as long as this gets fixed so i can use my mpc like im supposed to! i got a lot of midi programing ideas with my microkorg and sp 303 and these pads are getting in my way!!!! Im patiently waiting for any results that you have on your research and if you have anything that can tide me over cuz these jet li finger jabs are killing me that would be awesome nym!
