playing wrong pad?

this is weird, i load up a pgm and record. but when it plays back, a kick for instance, the mpc plays back a sample thats on a completly different pad. has anyone had this problem?

I have the same problem. When I hit harder a pad it plays randomly but if I hit it softer it's ok. But still it is a very big problem because I can't use the pads correctly. I wrote yesterday to akai support and see what happens.

Some reported that it's a problem with the pads not sitting correctly under the top cover. But you'd have to open the machine to fix that (warranty void!), so in any case wait for what the support or your dealer says to it!

yeah had the same problems....sent it in to akai ...they said I had a bad pad sensor they repaired it under warrenty ...took like two weeks ....kind of a ****....comming from a beat up 2000 thats never had a pad problem to getting a 2500 and the first 4 months some shit goes wrong !!! just looks like akai is getting sloppy!

Yep. I too have this issue.

On mine, it only happens every once in a while though, and seems to go away after a bit of pad tapping. Does anyone think that the sensors might eventually settle on their own into those slots The Maker was talking about in the other thread?

Ok, how about this: What if I order new pads; will the installation process provide an opportunity to align the tabs/slots?

Or is this a separate mechanism?

You don't have to order new pads for this. You just have to open the machine up, align the pad sheet properly, and screw it back together.

Just be aware that opening your machine voids the warranty, though probably nobody would ever even notice it was open.
