lotta questions

hi
I got some questions
maybe they are silly but I cant find the answers
so:
a friend of mine has the 2000 xl
I try to help him with that...
I figured out how to put the samples on the pads
but thats all
he has a zip drive with some 25 pol access
he bought some adapter for that
but the mpc didnt recognize the zip drive
hm...
I downloaded the 1.20 os
put it on a floppy and than I put it into the mpc
the mpc flashed... hm sry bad english I hope you understand
so... the mpc tried to reboot but than didnt recognize the file on the floppy
I got some .bin file from the 1.20
is the mpc able to boot with that?
what do I do wrong?
will the zip drive work with 1.20?

u should probly get rid of that zip and go get a card reader..... alot of people got troubles with the zip..... the 1.2 OS is for the card reader if im not mistaken.... do a search for threads here about card readers for xl's and see what u need and find out where to get it.....

i would see if you can get a lower OS then 1.20, its ment for a card reader, but it should still reconize the SCSI zip though.

try a lower OS on that floppy drive and try installing it, it should boot and install it. then restart it without a disk in the floppy, and try to see if the MPC starts up, if so, then see if the ZIP is reconized by the MPC.

if not, someone can drop an answer here.

and when you do get it working, find a card reader for it. will save you so many headaches. like saving a beat and samples to the ZIP, then going to load that same ZIP 10 mins later and it wont load because the disk is garbage!!! had it happen too many time, ZIPs are very volitile storage mediums.

but where can I get a lower os?
I'll tell him the thing with the card reader but hm I wont buy one till tomorrow
it's his mpc and I have to get a working os till tomorrow

ok found 1.14 on the .com site
but on the .de site it can't be found

one last question
will the mpc boot with the bin-file?
in the documentation it's something said from an exe... !?
