my answer to this is to buy the jj os for people you know who use mpc1000s/2500s.

you dont even have to tell em - just when they're not looking, slip it on there, get the reg. number, and buy the os...

hahah

but yeah seriously
thanks, jj.
this whole jj os thing, paid for or not, is a saving grace for akai as far as the 1000 goes - 2500 to a lesser exent too, in my opinion.

im sooo excited about the jj os. im currently travelling around south america (currently been partying hard in buenos aires...off to rio carnival very soon....woo hoo!). started travelling on the oct 1st 2006...jj's os had only just come out. i hadnt bought it as i was going away, and its evolved and improved sooo much since ive been away. when i return to the uk at the end of march im gonna hav a completely new drum machine with this os. i cant wait. ive been following the progress since october, and theres so many new additions to the os. im just glad i bought a mpc 1000. its become such a great feature full machine. so big props to jj for that.

big ups to JJ,
I had the original MPC2000, then they dropped the XL with all kinds of new features. My machine was forgotten about like some two dollar whore, akai never followed up and gave us a chance to get the XL update so our machines could do more.
Well, JJ came through and made the 1000 one of the best pieces of music creation equipment ever.
Long live the 1000, for value, can't beat it...
Now if only they could make some better pads...
And maybe a color / tilting screen?

color screen might be possible!!!
i've looked to buy some transparent colored plastic to put on the underside of the mpc screen. it'd have to be a complementary color of green so that it doesn't make a brownish mess (unless that's what you want)

tilting it, i'm afraid, ain't gonna work unless you want to give up the portability. see TheFirstJimbo, he tilted his 1k screen. which is pretty awesome.

it'd be pretty ghetto but that may lend to the appeal - customization = indulgence

pads, yes. piece of cake, a **** to order the respective parts.
