I wish I have an ordinary 4 band eq for every sample.
Without this feature its really hard to mix drums in my beloved 1k.
What do you think is it possible to implement this ever?
Or is it beyond 1k`s hardware resources?

yeah that would be nice but my guess is that it is beyond the hardware. which is unfortunate since it would really make this box shine! but it just underscores the role this puppy should play in a modern studio. i realize 'should' is a strong word here. its my opinion only

Or if running out of DSP resources maybe we can have a possibility to have eqs for some samples at least?

I never use the Mpc 1000s effects, but what is the situation with them you say there is no eq for each sample but how are the filters and do they apply individualy to each sample or are they global as well cause if they did apply individualy you could make some crude eq out of them?

i also never use the mpc 1000 effects. i make sure the drums have the desired frequencies in them by layering them with other drums or more often processed, lfoed reference tones.

once it's close enough to work with you can leave it like that til you track out. then you worry about how each individual sound sounds rather than the way they groove.

my advice - separate the process of writing the music with the process of producing/engineering the music

I think that you're asking for to much!

In the first place - the mpc1000 is "drum-sampler".

JJ pimped it with his OS - but you can't turn a volkswagen into a ferrari!

It will always be a pimped out VW.

If you want to have individual EQ's - then track your MPC to your PC into a DAW.

most of the DAW/Sequencers will give you just that - and that's what they made for - recording and MIXING.

Give it a try - just a thought.

cheers

yeah true.

but this one was made for a little more than just drum sampling. just not sound design or mixing. 128MB is a crapload to work with, even for a phrase sampler!

The problem is im in LIVE situation. :-)
Drums from MPC goes straight to Nord Modular G2.
I mix it with other parts of my music and here we go.
So im still dreaming about eq.
Anyway thank you all for your suggestions.

i find that drumhits are ok to eq using the lowpass and hipass filters (available per individual voice).

yeah its really valuable but not enough for my style of programming.

why don't you buy a cheap/small hardware mixer with eq's per channel?

Use the 6 outs of the mpc and send it to the mixer - eq to taste and there you go!

I know - and it was just an "example" to get the right perspective!

If you take the engine of car - you can get more horse-power, but you can't change it into an espresso-machine.

The mpc's EQ's are more of a gimmick to me - this is more evident if you use the built in fx's heavily - you get an instant delay/lag in the timing of the mpc.

Soooooo - REALTIME processing of individual samples would be insane, so to speak.

If you have a DAW, try to create 25+ channel and ad on every channel a software eq - your CPU will go nuts, so would the mpc!

That's where the hardware sets the limits - you can't make the mpc to do everything and a bit more.

Nice idea btw. But there are some problems connected with mixer:

1. Mobility. I dont want any more devices in my setup. Lots of stuff here already. :-)
2. To store track presets the mixer have to be digital. That means going through adc/dac one more time. No good.

P.S. I hope You are all wrong and one day ill see my eq on every pad. :-)

this is why i never use effects!
