it would be good if we could move our cursor around the step edit screen as the seq plays:

i find it essential to be able to choose the type of data shown at the top of the screen to visualise whats goin on in a seq, but when its running, u cant.

i know everyone and their dogs are asking for midi cc to fx additions....
thats such a good result when it comes.....but i also think it would be ace to have events put into the mpc sequences directly from the mpc (not just an external controller).

i would like to have the ability to record more types of mix changes such as fx values : ie- delay time, width, fb, level etc..... and say, have them record into the seq track thats in focus on the main screen....

i'm often using this type of behaviour in other music devices, and its an amazing way of adding very simple but effective fx modifications to patterns, and upping the musicality of otherwise static parts.

or how about being able to switch among tracks while in track mute mode... that way you can choose which track the Q sliders are active for as well as mute/unmute

I sent a request to JJ about being able to send a sample to multiple pads without using up memory.......OK let me explain...
After you sample something, it ask you if you want to send it to a pad, correct...Then you send it to whatever you want, but it only allows you to send it to one pad and then you have to goto programs and asign it to other pads....Not a big deal right? NO big proplem, because when you asign a sample to multiple pads and say you want to change the start and end points on that one pad, it afects all the other pads.....because you are messing with that same sample, Now I know that you can load samples as many times assuming you have memory and then you can change the start and end points but this takes up memory....
On the ASRX -Which is 10 years old- after you sample something it ask you where do you want to send the sample? It then shows a screen with the pad layout and you can tap one or all the pads and even you can goto the next screen and tap on more pads, so basically you can assign to 50 or 60 pads and then you can change each pad start and end point without affecting the other pads, You can really get crazy and change anything you want like sample reverse or filter or volume or effects on one pad and no effect on another......All this can be done without using up sample time.....Ensoniq was way ahead of its time. Not sure how they did this but I sent a request to JJ about 4 months ago but I guess that there is noway to implement this or he would of done this.....
What do you think of this?

[[i'm with u on the asr-x,i never had one of those, i had an asr10r, and its always been my favourite creative sampler over the years - rarely use it now though....and back when they were out, they made akai's look like boring beige boxes with some sample memory... ]]

yeah i like this idea with the sample parameters tied to a samples keygroup location rather than tied to a particular sample in mem, i would use this a lot....but i dont know if many others would.

yea, I've always thought that having a sample start/end values at the program level would be nice for non destructive chopping. Even if it was a rough value of 1-100 (like the qLink start time), that would be a very useful addition.

Also, I'd really like a faster/simpler way to double up my sequence bars. So for example, I've got a 2 bar drum loop, and I want to record a 4 bar melody. There should be a simple and quick way to double the 2 bars to 4 bars or 8, (ie. just press shift and window while the cursor is on the bars feild in the main screen), rather than going into sequence edit, and cursoring around to change the values of start bar, end bar etc...
I know individual track lengths would be the ideal, but that might change the file structure too drastically to be compatible with other mpc's.
Anyways, I find the current way of doubling a seqence bars to be a real flow killer.
Please all mighty JJ! I'm on my knees!

i hear that. doubling is important when building sequences.

:?: I've been trolling around these (awesomely helpful) forums and I'm wondering where to find this magic JJ OS I keep hearing about. I just bought my MPC 1000 second hand and am still teaching myself the ins and outs..You Tube has been good with the tutorials..

Is the Trim > Chop feature in JJ OS?

Where can I get this OS?

Thanks in advance..I'm still recording analog out of the MPC, but I'll save the MIDI questions for after I look around some more..

Peace-

EMC

yeah, this is well needed from my perspective - using various qlink setups on for each track,
so ive been on about this since last year, there def needs to be a [tr -][tr +] pair of Fkeys in the track mute screen, just as there is in the main window, that would help.

and even more functional .....in the track mute page - the track thats in focus (the track shown in the main screen) - could be highlighted somehow, mbe with a thicker outline or slightly greyed in or sumthin'....then we could see which track were tweakin' without leaving the track mute page.

mmm. how about being able to set the velocity for the 'full level' button?

Renaming tracks in the track mute-screen would be nice.
