"But I feel you guys, after spending 2 fvcking G's we shouldn't be having this type of problem. I called up numark akai and got the run around, I felt like I was talking to a baboon or something, horrible horrible customer service.

but I love my mpc 2500, even with the reg OS!"

Them dudes dont even know how the machine works when you call them. I talked to a guy where he didnt say a word but "Did you reset it yet" as if that solves everything. Akai Support does suk big time and for this reason I try to avoid calling them at all cost unless Im going to return it and thats it. Jahrome is right though use the forums thats the best support youll ever get for MPC's.

I remember when i got my first brand new 'blue' 4000 plus in 2005. The damn thing didn't even switch on.

I called up Numark and explained the problem, the guy listened and agreed with everything i said (like a parrot). As soon as i finished my bit, he asked 'have you checked the contrast sceen...because that might be the problem' WTF

Oh well gave it back and got another one. The power supply was faulty.

In Akai's defense, you can't expect them to solve all your problems over the phone. They only have the information that you provide. Think about all the calls they receive from consumers who don't know what MIDI or a sampler is?

Don't you mean Numark

As for the last part regarding sampler and midi background, i think it's safe to say that most companies are used to that, especially nowadays. How many people join the production bandwagon? Maybe that question should be reversed.

No....I meant Akai.

Is Numark a Japanese company? Because the MPC is still pretty much designed/programmed in Asia.

I could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure Numark USA are the guys who run Akai (Yes, you know that). as well as fund, design, and market Akai products under that name. Otherwise, it's a Numark product.

I don't think Japan hs anything to do with Akai/Numark, not any longer anyway.

My first Numark mixer from late 80's was made in Japan, todays Numark stuff is all made in China. The early Akai products were also made in Japan (as you already know that too).

You are wrong. The people most responsible for the MPC 2500 are mostly (if not all) Japanese. Yes, Numark, Akai, Alesis now fall under the same umbrella/owner...but that doesn't necessarily mean the same people work on the same projects. So while I don't know what goes on behind the scenes...the MPC is still manufactured and programmed in Asia....as well as the unOfficial JJ OS.

That doesn't sound like the same problem, what do you mean they don't play all the way?
