pad fix update - pics of new sensors

seeing as you have 100 or so, you should attach them all to a jumpsuit, and pad the walls, ceiling and floor of a room, and go nuts.

using midisense kits i'll be eventually building drum gloves just like i've always wanted. these things are perfect for midisense

by the way, why did the velostat not work out, i mean if the main problem with the akai pads is the glue, why didn't cutting larger rectangles of velostat work? cheers.

also, what size are these new sensors? are they fingertip sized, or larger?

these sensors are about the size of a large thumbnail. the black circle (surface) is a bit bigger than the round rubber of a pencil eraser.

velostat worked GREAT, at first - but after a while it "wears out" or something. it wasnt designed to be pressure-conductive, it just was. using it in a process like this wore it out.

velostat would have been great. if really nice sensors were as easy as copper/velostat, i'd have been able to ship out pad fixes for as little as 10 bones a pop, in ENVELOPES for pete's sake.

so how much are you estimating the cost is going to be for a full sheet of 16 pads, with sensors and the rubber pads??

i get kinda sad when i take look at my 1000s new home, a blue cardboard box.....

i'm not 100% sure yet. i don't want this to be rediculously expensive for people.

largely it's going to depend on the cost of all the parts, but second, it'll depend on how much time/energy it takes for me to make 1 of these things.

a little bit, a few of my pads make a very loud "metal against metal" sound from me **** up putting the pads back together, i dont got the cash for a new set right now, i figure i put it bakc in the box so it doesnt collect dust while im waiting for a new solution and the newer 1000bk pads arent lookin promising at all...

but yeah man i'll definately be down to give your new pad designs a new home or if akai actually gets their shit together and makes something very similar to the old interlink style pads without a hefty price tag

blimey, they're smaller than i thought. thanks for the info.

yeah me too, i felt like a kid who ordered something off the back of a cereal box.

however, the size doesn't matter in the long run. you can still get corner hits with such small sensors - easily, in fact - as long as the pad is positioned overtop it efficiently.

in the meantime while waiting for a real pad solution, is there a way to get all my pads working again Full Level style? like i dont mind for now if i have to have everything full lvl when i hit the pads, its better than not triggering anything when i hit them.. that sticky'd topic..should i do that for now untill we get a sensitivity fix? thanks
