i guess no battle iceberg-slim? you have everything on your side, hardware, skillz and the forum members are the jugdes. what else could you ask for. plus, i would not mind having your mpc4000. for the rest of you all, i own a mpc2000 uses it a few times a week. i have it sitting in my den where i watch tv and bang out beats/ideas when watching tv. the thread is about if you are doing hip-hop/rap a software set using ableton live3 and reason is a very nice setup. i do not know if you heard of d and d studios in nyc (alot of rap star record there) but i went to elementary, jr. high, high school and berklee with doug g and doug l. Recorded there hundred of times. use to go to doug g house to jam all the time (doug g plays the guitar). i see the power of the mpc because i (this guy full of himself) have one. with a mpc you must buy the following 8 out, memory upgrade, storage device (zip/cd), tone modules/samplers, midi box, effects, mixer, multitrack audio recording device, cd burning device. mpc is great at what it does but ...
with the software setup ableton live3 is the sequencer, sampler, multitrack audio recording device, effects, mixer. reason is the sound module/sampler/drum machine. reason with subtractor/malstrom synth you could design your own sounds. the pc/lappy lets you run the software, burn your cd and customize your cd jewel case and cd. moblity, you just meet a rapper, he could spit some lines right then and there. mix it right then and there. update the cd jewel and cd. and you have a complete product. the bottom line is the product. in my world it is. AND WITH THE MPC THIS SETUP IS EVEN MORE POWERFUL. in closing, i love my mpc2000 but where studio time costs a few dollar the software setup will save you time and money. period.
