cd rom drive wont read any sample cd's

i dont know what the deal is but my external rom drive wont read any of the cd's i put in it. i bought the rom drive from scsi for samplers and its brand new so i know thats not the problem. the mpc recognized the drive but when i go to load the disk it just has ??? like the disk isnt formated right or something. the disks are actual akai disks so i dont know what would cause this. anybody know what i should do.

It's not because the disk has akai printed on it that iit is an aka formatted cdrom.

okay. so in that case what should i do. im not one of those people that know nothing about production and come on here looking for someone to tell them how start producing. im not new to production. i just got this mpc though and dont know anyone else who has one or anything. i know how to use it other than this. i bought it from someone and it only came with this wak ass little drum kit on a floppy and a few cd roms. of course i loaded the floppy and played with the mpc untill i knew how to use it. i also read the entire manual before i even recieved the mpc in the mail. the manual doesnt say anything about the problem im having. i just got a cd rom drive from scsi for samplers and it hooks up fine. all i wanna do is load these sounds so i can use my mp. i cant seem to get any help from anyone and ive searched the forums and found similar senarios but nothing that gives me the answer im lookin for. if you or somebody could bless me with this simple jewel i would greatly appreciate it. thanks

you need to have the Cd in akai sample format.

i think you can download an image of the CD or search there should be a program that will do it.
